Alison and her husband’s renovation process came to an abrupt halt one Christmas morning when they awoke to a fire engulfing much of their home. Instead of despairing, the couple turned this devastating event into an opportunity for reinvention.
Alison’s home has been thoughtfully designed as a "gallery house," featuring spacious, open areas and expansive walls, perfect for showcasing her ever-evolving collections. For Alison, this space serves as a canvas for design exploration and a place to challenge her own imagination. Despite the anonymity of its black exterior, the home is a vibrant, fearless reflection of Alison's unique style. Modernism done right. Not the usual sterile, predictable sort that tends to be so common with most modernist spaces. Love the black exterior juxtaposed against the green foliage. The interior is sophisticated and personal. Absolutely love this home despite being a traditionalist, maximalist at heart.

I love her journey. As some who has a bachelor's in business and was completely out of touch from working in corporate America. I finally took my "first" leap. I work at a national interior design showroom, I went back and got my AA in Drafting, and I'm now getting another degree in Architecture. I love Interior design and Architecture so I can't wait for my next leap while I'm educating myself.

Love your fabulous home, Alison. I painted my house black 3 years ago - it's on a mountain with a backdrop of trees, so we both had the same idea of black highlighting the greenery and also of subtle drama. Love what Alison said about finding things and how your home becomes a reflection of yourself as you grow with it. Would love her take on my place, she is amazing and definitely a kindred spirit!

I loved this creative, stylish home, specifically because it is so arty and quirky inside and black outside. 😂Other people might not like it, I love it. I love the insane cat or tiger wall paper, it is hilarious. I mean who has a disco ball designed for them? Why not? The pink light hanging in the kitchen is amazing. So many lovely things I can't name them all. I found everything Alison was sharing with us facinating. She can design my home for me any day. Being quirky, arty, eclectic and a collector myself, this home is comfortable and beautiful. Cricket is adorable. Alison, you found your career!! 🎉

Thanks Alison and team and ID Damonte. I’m feeling, suspecting…? that she is influencing on my ID style taste. I don’t like modern style decor, too much brilliant silver color metal, neither abstract art but when you add the story (as she does) behind the whys, how was the art made… you begin to like them, at least appreciate them. She already convinced me with the paper walls in the restrooms! 🤗 Why do almost all of us feel like we have to kind of apologize for what we like and how we decor our houses? Im learning a lot about our nature through these ID videos. When I see a video I’m learning to stop that “nope! Not my style!” And trying to be more mindful, no judgements, and focusing in enjoying the joy, pride, knowledge, personal history that each of the owners are kindly sharing with us. Some comments can hurt… When we watch a video usually we have a feeling that the interviewee is the one that selfishly decides the decor, or that the wife decors all the house to please the husband, or the decor is a political manifesto… Reality is, we never never know, we are miles away from these selected houses. What do we know about how couples and families decide who is in charge of the decor? Sometimes husbands don’t care at all about decor or if they do, they prefer the ID professional wife to lead and they have a saying in other areas of their marriage. Anyway, that’s not our business. We are here to relax, vibe, learn from a large variety of ID styles and why not be nice with the home owners praising, congratulating them and sharing with them how their houses impacted our ID styles (if we have one, ha! 😅 I don’t have, I’m constantly learning).

My favorite space of the house is that airy kitchen - dining area with a view. I'd want a different color scheme though. The pink light fixture is so much fun ad makes a colorful statement.
