Huge, huge respect for your husband. Like you, I also have a husband who understands marriage vows of "for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health..." Such a beautiful home.....such a beautiful soul......wonderful husband..... I have stage 4 cancer. I am losing my teeth from the past chemo treatments and its a hard thing to cope with. I get into a funk, my body wasting away little by little. I have fur babies, an epileptic dog and a rescue cat.... we're a misfit bunch..... not sure why your videos were suggested to me, but I've been binging. 😉 you are so sweet and kind....its so easy to fall into a funk and feel sorry for myself.... I hope to grab a little sunshine from you! Thanks so much for sharing... I can't wait to see it finished!

Eirin, thank you for the home tour. You haven't wasted any time in getting back into the swing of things-you both look healthy and happy! I think you could help so many people with planning an accessible home; floor plan/design/equipment/etc. Yours is such a nice space with all of that natural light and high wood ceilings but it will be exciting to see the required adjustments. After utilizing the space, you know exactly what changes will serve you best. PS, love the dining table-it provides yet another social "hub" when entertaining which I know you enjoy doing! I've cleaned and been in hundreds of homes through my employment and I have to say that the shower shelves being sunken into the wall is a really good idea. Make sure some are tall enough for tall shampoo bottles to stand in. Those shelves are easy to clean and are safer than hanging things which are easy to knock and catch on, especially for your carers. Are you going to change the bathroom floor to a single color? Windows above bed are a disaster. Let in cold through glass in winter and heat in summer. Changing them and having a single window on the side is a great idea. You wont regret it. You're an ideas girl! Yes would LOVE a video on planning an accessible home, that would be brilliant! Isn't Alexa great? I think it was designed originally for lazy people but works brilliantly as a accessible home device!!!! And it gives you so much more independence....LOVE it.

Your home is amazing, and really big! I am so jealous of your bathroom mine is tiny. Alexa controls all of our lighting, TVs, doorbells and lots of other things through smart plugs etc. I adore the cat feeder, we have a dog and would love something like that but I bet if we did get one sally (our 5yr old Romanian rescue) would actually learn how to speak 4 English words which would be Alexa feed the dog😂 yesterday, because we have alexas in each room, every time I went into a new room I changed alexas voice so it’s gone from the usual female voice to a British males voice 🤣 completely threw my husband off because he didn’t know I’d done it. Small things make me laugh 🤣

I like the layout of your home for a different reason. I'm 6'7". In a 'regular' home I feel confined. I want to be able to move my arms to put a shirt on, without bumping into things. I really like your ceilings. I am in the American South, and ceiling fans are ubiquitous. They are my nemesis. I've almost been scalped. It feels good to see you up and about, happily working on the home. Once you've been confined to a bed, freedom to move about is priceless. Do you experience the nest building impulse, like I do, when you recover control of your daily chores? I always feel the need to impose myself on my surroundings again, when others have had control of such things for a period. Sometimes - well, usually - I am just moving things about, not replacing things; just making them mine again. It has been suggested to me that is a masculine impulse, but I doubt it. Maybe I am wrong... Seems like you might be feeling it, as well.. :) Glad things are going well for you guys!

One thing for sure, you won't need much lighting as your smile lights up every room... Hello Eirin. Your home looks beautiful and the renovations sound great. I have SCI T11 level. I have an apartment with some accessible features but I struggle with scratching up doors and walls and cabinets, storing clothes and other things because no room for dressers and can't use all the closet space, and clutter everywhere because need to keep things within reach. Also long work hours and little time for housework.

We had a wonderful time it was one of my favorite trips. When I was growing up many of my friends were Norwegian. Their moms were the best bakers.
