I'm wondering why, if the crew knew where they were going to move her to, did they wait till the last minute to put out the fenders? The guy put out the one near the bow AFTER the boat had contacted the dock!

The Stardust model is made by Trifecta Houseboats in Minticello, Kentucky. Where it was launched I'm not sure.

These boats have a purpose but the builders could sure stand to take on a couple engineers with Yacht building experience. Something about the usual 4.3 ltr Merc with alpha drives and Train residential AC units bolted off the back just kinda turn many folks off. At the risk of sounding too harsh, Cheesey comes to mind. If a guest on the Springer show hit the lotto and needed a boat then here you go. You would definitely want to watch the wind closely also. The thrusters could only do so much .

You're right; for a boat of this magnitude, someone with experience building yachts would come in very handy...it needs more than just a simple outboard motor

@@ariadams3290 Many Houseboats of this size have inboard/outboard (Outdrive) setups, as opposed to true outboard engines. This one appears to have such a setup. They aren't ocean going vessels either, to be sure.

Coming from the marine industry I can totally see your point. As odd as this is going to sound, and only my opinion; I don't think these types of vessels were designed for the proper mariner or avid boater in mind.

That is why it's called a house boat for a reason and not a Yacht. This thing will go to a slip and stay there as a floating house. Guess you don't live in the midwest. At the risk of sounding too harsh, You sound like a goof

@@kari53 what is the difference between a a proper mariner or avid boater and the house boat boater? There are a number of things different, and a number of things which are the same or similar. These house boats are made to operate in very protected waters. They are not something you will see in areas where you see the so called “proper” boats commonly operating. Haulover inlet or point pleasant canal videos seldom if ever shows a houseboat like this cruising through them. That’s like trying to drive a Walmart 18 wheeler semi truck over the Rubicon trail. They just don’t go where Jeeps go.

What I want to know is what is the bridge clearance? The air draught if you will. The lowest fixed bridge on the great loop is 15.5 feet.

More videos will follow as the project nears completion. Unfortunately some issues were discovered during the initial launch that need to be addressed before we can move it back to our slip across the lake.

Hundreds of lakes in the US could accommodate this boat. I'm only guessing, but Lake of the Ozarks maybe. Not Lake Shasta for sure, I've been there. I know Lake of the Ozarks has a huge amount of house boats like this. Probably the most of any Lake on earth really. Just a guess though.

Why would this boat be a bad fit for lake Shasta? I have seen some pretty good size house boats parked in and around Redding Ca. Which are obviously were used on that lake at some point. I just don’t know where the launches are for them.

I would guess beaching. You beach one of these you are looking to get 5 ft or so touching sand/soil/ That will mess up a bow thruster pretty quickly. I've rented a few 70ft house boats over the years and none of them have had bow thrusters.

What kind of cruising speeds is she set up for? Is she a slow poke or can she get up and scoot along at a good clip? Can she go fast enough to water ski behind? Or will a row boat out run her?

Today is tentatively the day she returns to her home port so I will update you on her cruising speed. Last time she ran was before the refit when she had a completely enclosed second deck. Boat is much lighter now so should be a vast improvement.

I only saw one Fender tied to the rear as the front appeared not have one ... did it slam into the dock at the front? My buddy has a house boat on a much smaller scale and has at least 5 fenders off the side when docking. I hope this new boat didn't get scratched on the first docking. 🙂 I just caught that they added one fender to the front while it was docked.. he squeezed it in! lol
