Another secret weapon in my arsenal, if more people actually realized the potential of Hauke's music tools this channel would have millions of views and the market of Orb Producer and Mixed In Key (Odesi, Captain Chords etc.) etc. would show a distinct feelyoursound shaped bite! I buy all new feelyoursound products pretty much instantly but sometimes it takes some time before I actually use them. Now that I gave HouseEngine a spin I am pleasantly surprised that all midi generated provide viable pathways from and to your original chord sequence (erm, even if that chord sequence wasn't even your own...). I guess a secret within a secret is not to use the HouseEngine for (just) House music and strongly explore the "Suggested scales" option in order to come up with intricate call and answer parts and interesting variations.

Can't believe I just found out you have engines for ChillOut and Trance too! I am on your mailing list but these announcements I must have missed. Will get these new engines asap, have to consider if I am going to wait for a possible 20% discount date (already qualify for a 12% discount). Having revisited the HouseEngine I now consider it a personal "MIDI Loopcloud" of sheer endless possibilities. Even with many wonderful patterns at hand it is still a _huge_ skill (and taste) challenge to select the right ones for a track on top of selecting the 'right' VST and sound preset that will generate the sounds from these midi patterns. In compositions I still struggle a bit deciding when (those delightful) arps need to come in, how many _different_ ones are ok to use (musically speaking) and at which point they just spoil the track. With 'fresh ears' I will have to analyze how others use them to great effect. Not just the arps I find challenging, there is a bit of #choiceparalysis going on for all generated patterns (strings, bass, melody etc.). 'Auditioning' patterns within the HouseEngine I find limiting so I make my target instruments listen to the midi out of HouseEngine and zero the volume fader of HouseEngine itself, this approach saves a little bit of time jumping and dragging from HouseEngine to midi track for a realistic rendition on the chosen instrument(s). Still, there is a LOT of jumping to and dragging from HouseEngine to midi track going on which makes me fear of RSI which is no joke; from this perspective I can see the value of the Pro Edition which would (indirectly?) enable to drag a ton of midi files to the track and preview/audition them in (fairly) quick succession. From a RSI point of view it is a pity that currently we can't use the keyboard's arrow keys to scroll down (or up) the generated MIDI patterns (and autostart the midi samples) inside the HouseEngine window. In its current form the mouse is needed to point, click, scroll and trigger midi patterns inside HouseEngine. I do realize that my tip of setting the target track listen to HouseEngine's MIDI combined with the possibility of quickly scrolling down and autotriggering the HouseEngine's midi patterns would reduce the appeal and necessity of the Pro version although that version still would have its unique application for saving all those patterns to file... For now the price point of the Pro versions are a bit prohibitive for me but I do appreciate that you already give a discount when you already own the regular engine for which you want to acquire the Pro version. Cheers!

Skipping through presets by using the arrow keys is an interesting idea. I will add that to the feature request list. Regarding the mailing list: Hm, this is strange. Could you please take a look and see if you set the checkmark that allows me to send mails to you? If this isn't set, my newsletter service won't send a mail to you (it's a legal thing in Europe since a few years). Or maybe it went to the spam folder?

@@feelyoursoundHQ Not to worry, "I must have missed" them in the sense they 'got lost' in an abundantly full inbox, I did actually receive all 15 or so of your 2022 news items, and I guess I could have benefited from the introductory prices of the other two engines. I am actually taking stock of the massive amounts of samples, tutorials and music software that I have bought over the years and I realize I have only ever used 0.25% of it! Despite my enthusiastic first comment in this thread I did not use HouseEngine for over a year, but this week I rediscovered it and combined with formidable LoopCloud (and the not so formidable Splice) I feel I am getting quite a bit closer to producing tracks that could be worthwhile. Needless to say the HouseEngine midi patterns finally make all the expensive VSTs that I bought come to live, reducing my self-loathing for having bought all of them in the first place. Next thing I will do is to feed HouseEngine scaled chords into Xfer's Ctuhlhu (learn mode) so I can build up dedicated chord libraries allowing me to play them with ease so I can add a little 'performance personality' to the juggernaut of the HouseEngine/LoopCloud combo.

If you use the VST version, you can route the generated notes to another synth via MIDI. You can find instructions for different DAWs here: feelyoursound.com/chordpotion-manual/#setup (simply use the Engine instead of ChordPotion ;) Attention: The AU version doesn't support this feature. AU components can either operate as an audio plug-in or as a MIDI plug-in, but not as both.

@@dystrikdproductions3215 Only the VST version of the Engines supports MIDI out. The AU version doesn't support this feature. Many songs use the same chord progressions and bass movements. If it sounds like an existing song, it has to do with that. And "I want your love" is a funky tune, which is of course quite close to the vibes here ;).

Hauke, Curious how you made the DEEPER version ;-) I presume it's minor key to start with? Does that just happen if you use one/fewer chords or do I need to do something to make it darker?
@feelyoursoundHQ2 жыл бұрын
Minor key is definitely important here :)! And I think it's a good idea to go with one or two chords, not more. If you change chords too often, the atmosphere quickly becomes too uplifting/distracting. You can use the "One chord" generator for this and then pick a chord that feels dark or uncanny.

basically what is the difference between this and chordpotion 2?
@feelyoursoundHQ3 жыл бұрын
HouseEngine is focused on House productions. It includes over 300 presets that generate keys, bass, etc. for you. The main user interface allows you to search for interesting presets and filter them. However, it is not possible to create or edit own presets. ChordPotion is suitable for all genres, and you can create/edit own patterns. It does not ship with such a huge library of ready-to-use presets for a specific genre, though, and it only works on chords (HouseEngine also uses scale notes if needed).

I tried the demo, couldn't drag any midi in there from ableton. wanted to see what it comes up with for what i am working on. hmmm.
@feelyoursoundHQ3 жыл бұрын
Hi :). Dragging MIDI files from the DAW to HouseEngine is something that relies on the feature set of the DAW. Such a workflow is currently possible with Reaper (Ctrl + Alt + Drag), but Ableton Live doesn't allow such a thing :/. And I cannot solve this in HouseEngine alone, because the DAWs don't allow access to the MIDI notes on the channels (only during live playback). Unfortunately, this can only work if Ableton Live adds drag and drop MIDI export to their own feature list. A little trick that might make life easier: You can always export your Ableton Live MIDI chord progressions to the same folder. Then add this folder to the "Places" on the left side of Live. Now it's a bit quicker to drag the newly generated files to HouseEngine (at least you can stay within Live and don't have to use Explorer/Finder).
@dman0303 жыл бұрын
@@feelyoursoundHQ huh, seems i used it like that in ableton. what about running midi from one channel to another and into HouseEngine? i know channel to channel works. i am thinking if you have something good going in your project, you just want to use it quickly and not dig around files and folders. sorry for the late reply, YT doesnt notify people anymore i guess.

Is the house part just marketing? And does this actually generate or is it all Presets patterns?
@feelyoursoundHQ3 жыл бұрын
The generated phrases are especially targeted at House productions. However, as many music styles share similar roots you can use HouseEngine for other genres as well (especially other dance genres). Most patterns use a fixed, hand-optimized rhythm to generate the output. The rhythm is then applied to the input chords or the generated melodic shapes. The presets consider other musical aspects as well, e.g. the scale, the bass notes, etc.
