Wouldn't Gemini 2.0 multimodal live be another suitable option to implement this feature? It is Audio in - Audio out. The only con being not running locally.

Not running locally is a deal-breaker for me... mostly because I live in a place where the internet (and power) is not terribly reliable, but also because I hate subscriptions for hardware... lol
