When I bake a potato in the microwave I poke holes in it with a fork then get paper towels, about two enough to wrap the potatoes in , wrap it then put under faucet and wet squeeze excess water and put into microwave. Steams the peel keeping it nice and moist not dry out and cooks the middle with-it drying out also. If the paper towels get a little dry during cooking just dampen with water again.

The egg piercing device has been a thing in the Netherlands for years. I don't remember anyone in my family ever not having one of these. Just as standard in a Dutch kitchen as forks are. Also: the reason you mangled your eggs while peeling is because you are doing it wrong: Place egg on the table under your palm and build up pressure until it cracks then roll it back n forth a couple of times. Comes right off.

Hi there, how are you doing today? I was on scrolling mode when I got piqued by your profile and couldn’t help saying hello 😊
@rla10006 жыл бұрын
2:30 Hmm, it's pretty simple to just slice off the exterior skin or husk of a pineapple with a knife, and you shouldn't discard the core anyway as it is rich in an enzyme called bromelain, a significant anti-inflammatory used for a variety of conditions, obviously anything that has inflammation associated with it - arthritis (osteo), swelling especially nasal/sinuses, after surgery, etc. I've heard it can also be applied topically (like aloe) for burns, wounds etc. The pineapple core is a bit more fibrous than the fruit we are used to, but only slightly more so, and can be readily eaten as is. If you make a lot of smoothies with pineapple as an ingredient, as I do, you don't even know it's there. The same with a bit of the skin, which is also rich in bromelain.

+mohammad ali While I get it, for anyone who is considering the tool, they have to consider the amount of usage. If you are going to cook enough, then it's work putting in the time to advance your knife skills. If you are not going to be cooking much, then maybe this tool is right. The core usage looks like it would be for people who cook a couple of times a month or less. If you plan to cook more than that, it's worth getting good with your knife.

That pizza cutter was cringeworthy, if it is as sharp as it looks. It reaches way above the fingers and slides back and forth; sooner or later you're going to cut yourself bad. I have hard boiled eggs for years and I have never needed to put a hole in them prior to cooking. The only times my eggs ever cracked during boiling was if I dropped them into the water instead of gently placing them in or if they were ice cold and went straight into boiling water. So I fail to see the need to puncture eggs. However I will agree mostly with your boiling method. Here's how I do it. Cold eggs in the pot. Add cold water to about one inch above the eggs. No salt, vinegar, or anything at all in the water. Nothing but water and eggs. Put on to boil. The split second the water starts to boil, turn the heat off, leave the pot on the burner and cover. Wait 12 minutes. Not 13 minutes or 12 and a half, but 12 minutes exactly. Remove eggs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. I have been boiling eggs this way for years and very seldom do I get gray-green yolks. Also, to make peeling easier, leave the eggs in the ice bath until completely cold to the center and peel under running water. Your welcome.

The best way to make boiled eggs is to put the eggs in when the water is hot. This makes the shells come off much easier- Thanks Alton brown!

I have the chef basket, I've had it for years. But you're right, I didn't think it was all that. It didn't hold as much as I thought it would, and don't bother with using the handles for legs, they're not very stable. But, that spaghetti kind of got me started. Lol

Hi there, how are you doing today? I was on scrolling mode when I got piqued by your profile and couldn’t help saying hello 😊

Ziploc makes bags that you can steam food in. It takes 7 minutes to fix a baked potato from raw to perfect. Plus you can have it already topped. The box of 10 is $2.50 at Wally World.

I do the fork thing for baked potatoes in the microwave. Got a little excited when that was suggested!

Instead of the cutter at the end, a santoku blade works really well. You just have to remember to keep your knives sharp and practice your knife skills.

my mom has a tupperware egg piercer from 1968 that we've always used for hardboiling eggs. if you forget to use it, it really does make it harder to get the shells off.

I bought the pineapple tool. Although it wastes a lot, I really tried cutting it with a knife, it just gets a bit too much.

I like that $6 pineapple twist product because you can remove the core from the skin and have a really cool cup for a nice summer drink.

Tip for peeling eggs.... crack the shells of the eggs right before putting them in the cold water bath and they shell will practically slide off.

Hold hard boiled eggs under cold water while peeling and I always use a plastic grocery bag to cook my potato's. You can put 5 to 8 potato's in poke a couple holes and microwave for 7 min. Works prefect every time.
