Absolutely agree. All those tv shows constantly pushing to finish any types of renovations in a crazy short time frame. I remember in one show they were running out of time to put curtains so they used stapler! How silly is that: curtains are staplered to the wall itself! In reality good things take time and I also like that this fact wasn't just edited out from the video. Almost nobody never say how long it actually take to finish the project, they even say to bake cookies in the oven for 15 minutes while in reality not a single time in my life I had cookies done that fast.

I LOVE YOU TWO SO MUCH - but have a teensy suggestion.... I think - as much as I love your current bedroom - there may be a bit too much happening on the " bed wall""( ie table lamps, picture lamps, mirrors AND artwork.). The eye has alot to absorb. Just wondering if you removed the 2 black and white large prints above the bed it would read as less busy and therefore more elegant. I actually LIKE much of the modern Black & White Art in your home (tho not always a fan of it's endless repetition)...however I STILL maintain that the art over the bed is Jarring (as in a Hangman's gallows) ...and LESS than LUXE. Wonder if it will eventually go the way of the once-loved Black/White/ Stripe bedroom rug??? PS. Will you STILL want Black Velvet curtains in SUMMER??? PPS. First reno we also did was get rid of the bathroom carpet and put down nicely textured tiles. And you're so right: there's always something!! And separate closets (and bathrooms, btw) are great! Love what you and Jack have done!

Built around the same time too, I’m in suburban St. Louis. My husband and I are outside Atlanta and family has been here since beginning of state and NC. I have been renovating our home for years and had spent 165k in 2018 and got screwed over and hardly anything done and what was now has to be redone as work wasnt done correctly on things. Finding good people has been hard. Also even though I grew up wanting to be designer and went to school for a while in Vegas for it I had to stop and Im retired military and have lived in many places around world and later got degrees in other areas that were in areas that was talked into (medical and international) and now in early 40s retired and just working on my home and taking care of my family. My husband's business works for all kind of large organizations and companies all over Atlanta like ball field and airport etc and his family has business there in trades like havac . I have a very specific look going for and know elements but putting together and getting the high end designer look of it instead of a thrown together of those things that speak of the look going for and even if costly still comes across cheaper and just missing something. Enjoy videos and now knowing here even more so.

It’s always a work in progress! I’m renting a post neglect house. My landlord is cool with me restoring the house and making improvements. Yes, I’m renting. And people argue with me all the time that we’re wasting money on a place we don’t own. I argue that they don’t own their house either. The bank does! Besides, I want a place I enjoy while I live here! I’m sure my landlord appreciates the sentiment. Actually improving a rental instead of abusing it. The landlord painted the exterior from a faded yellow, to Downing Slate with Bolero red doors. I’ve painted the lower kitchen cabinets in Behr’s Carbon in a high gloss. I’ve turned the backyard from a lumpy mud pit, into an flat, inspiring oasis. We’re installing a pergola next spring. I’m also doing the other kitchen (we have two small units joined by a communal laundry room) that we both rent. So we definitely have our hands full! But, I owe a LOT to you! Your channel has been an absolute inspiration for a lot of what I do. I love your lush, lux design sense and the black, white and green color scheme. Your design direction gave me the push to get over the terror barrier and try something new! Thank You! 🙏🏼
