That sure is a balcony full of such a gorgeous variety of plants! It's like a botanical garden! Very nice. Those hoyas are almost succulent-like. Like others have said, dry the soil before watering. Those leaves may even take if you put them in soil (like African violets). Nice place to chill during Covid.

Hoping you can also share tips on how you grow your plants living in a tropical climate (what kind of soil, lighting, humidity, etc.) most of the plant videos i see on youtube are from enthusiasts from america and i dont know if i should follow those and because i live in a south east asian climate (i live in the philippines where its very hot and humid too). thank you !!!! ❤️

jam For our climate, care for a few species such as calatheas and begonias are completely different. I think care also varies based on soil medium, water quality, and our living spaces. The best thing to do is understand where each species come from and try to replicate those conditions in our homes, using whatever means/creativity we have. Also the plant history is important too... Ive seen nurseries that water their sansevierias and zz plants every day...

Your balcony is so rich with different species of plants, and it is impressive that you know each of them by name and when you got it and how it has thrived or not under your care. I was thinking about raising tropical plants in a tropical environment and all the options that gives you. I live where it is winter half the year and there is risk of frost and temps in the forties and fifties Fahrenheit for another quarter of the year. Sunlight and warmth are rare commodities! If I'm not mistaken. I saw some leca (semi hydro) for growing medium. Could you do a tutorial or some information about semi hydro. The needs especially in Jakarta. Love the plants, so healthy and beautiful!

I was amazed with all your plants there lovely I bet you love sitting out there in your own mini rainforest. The one you said was banana-like with a yellow flower is a canna lily I love those plants they get huge and are rhizome based plants.

@@onlyplants I'm from Philippines, plants aren't as expensive here too, but the ones in your collection are a little pricey here, atleast in my area. I'm a little jealous of your monstera, i got mine as big as your first one, but all the leaves fell of due to root rot 😑. I was able to bring it back to life, now i have a single new leaf, no fenestrations at all but I'll take it. 😂 Can you share the potting mix you're using for monstera?

Thank you for your virtual tour of your plants in your balcony. Impressive collection. I have a hard time with the maiden fern. The leaves always seemed to brown and dry out. Perhaps my humidity is too low? My calathea shows browning dry edges too. Is that from too much light exposure?

My Maiden Hair Fern and Calathea are also the same, dry leaves. I think both of mine need more humidity!

FactsNFiction maiden hair ferns actually dont require as much humidity as most people claim. My maiden hair grown in a low humidity bedroom has grown better and faster than ones living outdoor. The key is bright indirect sunlight, and water every single day. When I miss a watering, I notice a whole branch crisp off...
