Former Secretary Paulson seems like a credible honest man, but I find it hard to believe that he had no knowledge of Goldman Sachs a firm that he was formally the CEO of counter party claims against AIG.

i would say ultimately that those members on the house committee have the same access , more so even , as the regular citizen does to finacial data reports. why don't they just look it up. Congress writes the laws, makes budget, proposal, and appropriates the funding accordingly to the laws they write. Therefore when they fail to balance a budget to run the government for over 20 years then who is to blame? If they would take a pencil, a piece of paper and do a little arithmetic before provisioning contracts and expenditures then perhaps myself and other Americans would not have to be so concerned. Furthermore if congress can continuosly borrow money from the Fed and not have to worry about paying it back then what do they need our tax dollars for? To my understanding all the money loaned out for the most part was paid back. I only know what they say and what they do.

Bullshit. AIG policyholders were 100% fine. Each of the insurance companies were solvent and could have been sold off for billions - directly contrary to Paulson’s opening testimony.

What a waste of taxpayer funds! Congress spends 5 minutes asking questions that don’t actually get any answers as to why taxpayers needed to bailout private industry. Of course the industries that want to be saved on our dime will always cry “The sky is falling…” Let it fall!
