I know someone who recently joined the met. Apparently, they do not walk beats. They are ferried around in a van and sit around until directed to do otherwise. I was also amazed to discover they no longer do lifesaving as it is deemed too dangerous to try and rescue people, and they no longer do the St John's ambulance first aid course and qualification. So what exactly DO they do, eh?

AB you have b.a.l.l.s. I do this regularly at my local council meetings [ not in the UK ] and got the police round my house, crimminal charges pressed by council.
