I have been thinking of visiting UAE and Abu Dhabi but just feel the accommodation is too expensive for those of us that will have to rent accommodation. Hello Yomi. Yes, accommodation is the biggest expense for a trip to the UAE, as there don't seem to be many budget options. Hi Mandy / Lee, I can't say l'm a fan of Abu Dhabi & if I had to choose, I would pick Dubai to visit. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is so beautiful. What a pity they didn't integrate that type of Arabic design in their "modern" buildings. Prices you've shown aren't too bad. Which makes me believe that only the accommodation is expensive. We enjoyed our 4 days in Dubai but were so relieved to be back in lovely quiet Abu Dhabi! The local saying is so true re: Dubai being the city and Abu Dhabi being the village 😀😁 You're spot on with accommodation being the priciest part of a stay, which is why we're so fortunate to have housesat there, and we hope to return in August! Yes, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is so beautiful. I wish I'd taken more photos but we were just so overwhelmed with how lovely it is! We've spent the past week in our little off-grid hut up north, and are now back in the big smoke, Auckland, for a few days... back to electricity and running water! WOW! The grand mosque is stunning. Some of the pictures that you were allowed to take are beautiful. I have never seen a fancy bus station that was air-conditioned. Hello NYME. That's a very good question, and no, I didn't have to cover my hair in UAE. Modest dress is appreciated, ie no skimpy tops and shorts, similar to many other countries, but we still saw people dressed that way. I was perfectly comfortable wearing jeans and a teeshirt... but we were there in winter. It's going to be so interesting seeing what it's like there in summer! ~ Mandy 😀😁

Hello Julie. We didn't notice any single females or males. I'd say you could look at the free public beach on the Corniche first, and see how you feel, or consider paying for a family beach if you want slightly nicer surroundings. I'd be looking at the public beaches first though. Wear what you feel comfortable in... I'd probably cover up a bit, but we did see westerners in bikinis.
