It is the new tory rules where people applying for social housing don't have to be rehoused in the area they currently live in - this means that the Tories have given councils a license to deport the poor. The primary motivation for these policies is the same as the sell-off of social housing in the '80s: creating conswrvative safe seats in the major cities by getting rid of labour voters - the project was called "building stable communities". Gerrymandering is where borders are moved to manipulate the outcome of voting populations - what's going on today is simpler but just as corrupt: moving people over borders.

Massive amounts of predatory lending have forced the prices of rent and ownership far out of reach of people who work for a living. Then consider that the government bailout of the banks in 2008 as "taxpayer support" - where bad loans were bought by the government and then sold off for pennies on the pound to the very same financial industries to collect in full. The government then implements "austerity" and a massive sell-off of public services - including public housing - while citizens' earnings have flatlined.

Disgusting example of council and population mismanagement. Ruining Kent in the process. Thoughts for the people who moved out to Maidstone and bought their properties in order to move away from these sort of issues only to find a London borough drops the people they no longer want in their borough into the town anyway. "Moved miles away from home" could be worse, could be Birmingham. After the property crashes of the 80s and 90s , where a lot of house builders went out of business , the ones that remained went back to the drawing board . The outgoing major government then New labour and camerons coalition just went along with the new policy of stack them high, sell them high! Those of us who own property need ask ourselves do we want our property values to be heavily lowered and our neighbourhoods, brown and green belts to be heavily built upon, all whilst immigration continues to rise? Also not forgetting Britain and mainly London is the money laundering capital of the world! And our biggest and most profitable industry the service sector, actually enables this corruption to happen.

We need to go back to a time when we had an extended family as support, marriage as a union build on duties and responsibilities. Children conceived not outside wedlock. Where a women Also (among many other things) chooses a man for the ability to provide for his family not rely on the sacrifice of others already sacrificing for their own. This insistence of this type of life style is failing and this country will not be able to continually print money to support it, the money is becoming worthless.

@@Neocyberman1 you should travel around the world a bit and i dont mean the popular tourist spots where you meet people from your own demographics...your analysis means no one has ever got married until they have a stable economy since the dawn of mankind. Maybe this is shocking, but i think 2 people married or unmarried consume the same resources. Marrying and living in an extended family is a social benefit both old and young and the yet to be born. Each member has their duties obligation. This idea of independence really gets shot down when yiu end up in a care home.

This isn't new for Maidstone, West Malling or the Medway Towns; 12 year waiting lists for Council housing in these areas has been the norm since the 1970s. London overspill, since the late 1960s, has contributed to unaffordably high rents & property prices for local people. I can't even begin to imagine how many families are now living in unsuitable temporary accommodation or homeless since the introduction of the Bedroom Tax & the pressure it's putting on people & services.

British housing is so bad its not even funny, especially compared to that in other EU countries. Their sizes are claustrophobic, walls are made of cardboard or what, good luck trying to open the windows after a few years, no floating floors, radiators (the war is over, its 21st century), just a carpet on a concrete floor (the 60s are over), everything is on the cheap (you dont want to see a bathroom), and the price? Fuck! Not only is it all bad, but its prohibitive! If housing put stress on your budget, your childcare and universities are not for free, you pay council tax on top of that and most people are on near minimum wage... good luck.

The problem is the lack of smaller housing for singles and small families... The US has this problem, too. It's not related to space. It's not profitable to build a lower end home, so our market is swamped with houses and three bedrooms. I'm one person, I want an efficiency or a small apartment, but I'm forced to wait till I have someone to live with in a home like it's the 50s. It's uncommon in the US for roommates to split a house... It's considered a "poor people" thing. No options here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGbCemmkpKxjptU This video explains how Denmark's economy was transformed through the application of a Land Value Tax in the 1800's. Instead of idle land owners collecting all surpluses in the economy and all the windfalls provided by technological and scientific advances such as steam engines and railways, these surpluses and wind falls could be reinvested into the economy allowing for more investment in production and public goods. Whenever the economy grows due to a technological advance or taxpayer investment in infrastructure, land owners are the main beneficiaries through higher rents and land prices - unless an LVT is applied to recoup some of the unearned profits. It also discourages under-utilisation of land and land speculation and encourages investment where land prices are low, off-setting some of the attractions of high land cost area's like city centres.

WInston Churchill was a proponent and made and eloquent case for it: "The landlord who happens to own a plot of land on the outskirts of a great city … watches the busy population around him making the city larger, richer, more convenient. .. and all the while sits and does nothing. Roads are made … services are improved … water is brought from reservoirs one hundred miles off in the mountains and -all the while the landlord sits still … To not one of these improvements does the landlord monopolist contribute and yet by every one of them the value of his land is enhanced … At last the land becomes ripe for sale - that means the price is too tempting to be resisted any longer … In fact you may say that the unearned increment … is reaped by the land monopolist in exact proportion not to the service, but to the disservice done." Winston Churchill during debates on the Finance Act 1910

Not hating or being rude but am tired of seeing a bunch of poor people that depend on the goverment complain or cry when the govement makes them homless or give them a houseing situations that they dont like. Birth control has became available in the 20th century dont make kids if your life is in the hands of the goverment. Dont waste money if your in a shit job dobt like like there is no tomorrow if your patner is broke or not ambitious. Its not rocket sicence.

Basically your saying that life should stop just because someone is poor!! Government doesn’t make someone homeless it’s the greedy private landlords get your facts right before you comment there many single parents who can’t work because of disability not because they choose to have kids, life is tuff acknowledge this very fact

beggars cant be choosers, support yourself and choose where you live, or rely on the state and they will chose where it;s cheaper for them, why should the tax payer pay £1000+ a month for a london rental when they can get similar elsewhere for 1/3rd of the cost, and a family / homeless person has a roof over their heads part of the problem is people faking 'homelessness' in order to try and get housed by the council in a cheaper rent place, you see it all the time, people claiming to have been chucked out of their parents place etc many people who are told they need to be moved elsewhere suddenly find somewhere else to stay be that with family or in a private let, councils are wise to the games these people are playing. if you are genuinely homeless then you will take anywhere that is offered. you see the same when people do finally get offered a council / housing association place, people are way too fussy, turning down a property because its a flat and not a house etc when those that are genuinely in need will take literally anything they are offered.

The UK takes better care of their homeless than America does!! It’s a disgrace here and the rents in this country have grown out of control so much so that, whole families are living on the street even if both parents work! There’s no flats they can afford and there’s no end in sight! Also, disabled and elderly getting evicted with no recourse bc landlords today want you to make 3 X’s the amount of the rent! A 1 bedroom in Massachusetts is $2100.00 per month with no utilities and you’d have to make $6300.00 a month to get the apartment! Disgusting! But, good in ya Britain! At least you put ppl in temporary housing so they don’t have to go to the streets!

The cancer which is london spreads out into the shires. Places like where I live have always had far less investment from government in infrastructure and are therefore already overburdened with the requirements of people local born and bred, the last thing we need is extra people coming in from the likes of London. An example of this is in recent years we have seen an ever growing number of londoners relocating to my area. They are buying up local houses because they've plenty of money after selling up in London. But that means there is then a shortage of housing for locals and prices are going up rapidly and as local wages a very low compared to the likes of london, it means local children are priced out of any kind of house of their own.

BORRIS JOHNSON ruined Renting scheme by introducing (affordable rent) which is double the price of social rent. How do you manage to call something twice the price affordable. I call it (BORRIS RENT) so people relate better to it. I rent a housing association 1 bed for £220 at newly created (affordable rent) a month but previous tenants paid £110 at (social rent). BORRIS doubled the price literally. BORRIS is after all the land lord class, what does he know about working class.

This is simple stuff, London needs to expand if more people want to live there, London currently is the most expensive place to build in the world, its not easy building in London but that's what they've been doing and thats what causes over populated urban areas, with higher pollution higher crime, and more congestion. the supply of houses and supply of land is no where close to meeting demand, Greenfield is alot more practical and cheaper to build on, and would be even more cheaper if the greenbelt protections where scrapped altogether as the supply of land on the outer cities would outstrip the unbuilt land on the inner cities by 100 fold atleast, London Birmingham all the major cities have this same problem from 70 year old protections that only people in the nice outer part of the cities benefit from! if these protections weren't put in all that time ago London could have been more cheaper, and a less congested place, simple stuff, referendum on the green belt would settle this

Maguire Fire Developers will love what you say, but the truth is we cannot build our way out of every problem. Destroy greenbelt and you destroy productive farmland and what about roads, schools hospitals that must then be built ? Do you think developers will build those? There are three thousand empty and disused properties in the town in which I live. The same is probably true for many towns in England. Put these places back into use and then talk about building more.

So then...no husbands in England? No maternal or paternal grandparents ?Each child comes into this world with 6 adults who could kick in to feed cloth and provide . Or is family not a thing in England? How did the tough as nails WW2 generation turn into people that expect to be taken care of by their neighbors paycheck instead of families helping each other.

Jesus is the hope John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God
