RE stands for a “reserve” back up truck. More then likely there main engine 8 is in the shop for some reason. The reserve trucks bounce around all over town.

The Frontline Engine was on this day, there happen to be 3 Engines housed there, and It did say midtown on R7 so maybe it was in the process of becoming a reserve and their station had to be shut down for renovation right in the middle of it.

There’s Parking across the street from the station, there’s also a lot on St Joseph Ave and Louisiana St around the corner.
