I understand it is bad. But it is nothing like the people that went through Katrina. They were not prepared. Here they have a dry place and are getting clothes. And it been just about a week ago that the storm hit.. It's not the best situation but there is help and people helping.. It could have been worse... And I hate to say it but 6 kids, come on..

A T it is hard to accommodate so many people and to find a spot for a woman with 6 kids, that makes things difficult... But it is great that the state of Texas and the government has risen to the occasion and helped... It's not going to be easy but I stand by what I said, 6 kids.. Come On at some point people need to stop having so many children..

I am here in Houston, thankfully we weren't affected, and I along with many friends feel survivors remorse when we watch these videos, but looking at the conditions, I just believe that there were so many people that everyone couldn't get the attention they needed, it's bad, but it happens, this city, the fourth largest in the world just wasn't prepared. Hurricane Katrina really should've taught us. To fix this I think the government should allocate funds to build "Just in case" emergency shelters in certain areas and stockpiled them with necessities for when natursl disasters happen. Just my thoughts! Prayers to those still in the shelters, pray for my city, the aftermath is almost worse than the disaster!

Bobby Boo Because the last time we evacuated we spent 36 hours getting somewhere that is 3 hours away. It was a horrible experience. Not to mentiom this time the mayor told us to stay because evacuation would be pointless Because we are so overpopulated.

The mother was simply answering the interviewers questions. "Should the city of been more prepared?" The woman's response was faulting the mayor as one major contributing culprit of the unpreparedness of the city due to his minimizing the possible effects of the storm. But to be fair this was an unprecedented storm for Houston. This woman has suffered loss and has been ravaged by the forces of nature, more than some yet less than others. I feel more sorry for those of you who are in need of a metaphorical heart transplant, made a apparent by the comments made about this woman. It's a lot easier to get more stuff than to have a change of heart.

+Tammy Wines College? Our children are adults at 18. We need to teach them to be independent and pay their own college tuition. Ridiculous. Granted, college is around $100,000 now days. But we encourage them to become slaves to debt because society teaches us that is what we have to do to be successful. What they don't teach us is we may not find a job, and we will be paying back our high interest rate loans until we retire. And if we are unable to make our payments, we can go to prison.

For those of you stuck on bashing this woman and her babies for needing help, you're missing the point, maybe your not a parent, maybe your just a troll just wanting to make negative comments, I don't know, but I do know that, the day a distaser like this comes to your home and you try to seek shelter for your family, and have to watch them sleep on the floor on top of whatever you can find to make them as comfortable as you can, remember what you said here...she didn't complain, she was calm, and answered questions, and she did say that she sat in a chair all night watching over her kids, doesn't matter what color her skin is, that's a good mom right there, and I hope that all the families that have been affected by the disaster, find the help they need to get their lives back together. Natural Disasters, whether they are Natural or Man-made, they do not discriminate, they affect everyone!!!

But unfortunately for the entire world, if empathy and compassion are results of having a good mom...and the 'richest and most powerful nation in the history of the world' contains too many individuals who would rather insult those in need, than help those in need...it seems fairly evident that America has obviously had too many bad moms. Perhaps if more moms had NOT made the choice to sleep on the floor and let the babies have the bed...those babies would have grown up to actually be capable of empathizing with those who don't have enough beds now. But probably not; because some people are just not capable of selflessness.
