In any case, he's a high IQ guy that can pass and handle the ball, so he can handle PG duties for some of the game, at least.

I think the Nets were bluffing....I think they were gonna trade Bridges regardless, and they played us. If a team offers you 4 firsts and I think 4 swaps for a role player, you're not gonna take it? Even if it's the Knicks picks? No bad team was going to give them that kind of deal, because he's at best, a #3 option. The Nets were screwed....even if they kept Bridges, they were still gonna suck, and it was going to be a lottery pick. Stone's reasoning for doing the deal, was that we got 2 firsts and 2 swaps in return for those 2 Nets picks. But the problem is, you traded 2 guaranteed lottery picks, for picks from teams that have young stars. The last pick swap being in 2029 with either the Suns or Mavs. Booker will be 32, and Luka will be 30....barring a major injury, or trade demand, or their talent level falling off a cliff, they're still going to be on their same team, and still playing at a high level. So those 4 picks essentially, will be in the 15 to 30 range. You traded the opportunity to draft a superstar, in hopes of landing an old one, who's a diva, on a max deal, who's often injured. The other problem, is that the Nets now have 3 years to improve their team (literally 3 years till the 2027 draft)....so our 2027 Nets pick swap might not be that great anymore. The Nets are now loaded with picks, and after next season will be off the Ben Simmons contract, and have a ton of cap space. I think this trade could possibly be the worst in Rockets history...worse than the Paul for Westbrook deal....we didn't give up guaranteed unprotected lottery picks in that deal...in what's expected to be a really talented draft pool next year. Hopefully, we don't miss out on a generational talent....but we won't know for another 5 years.

@@1915mike, I agree with you… but until Amen gets Legitimate 3 point shot, he will be somewhat limited in the self-creation aspect as a PG. He is already amazing without a 3 point shot, so I see that as the difference between him being a great player and a super-star. That being said, partnering with or maybe a better way to put it is, having someone you can pass to who is capable of reliably hitting the three point shot will be huge for everyone, especially for Amen as a Point Guard or Combo Guard. I am so glad we have them both! I think Amen and Reed will find a better rhythm than Amen and Jalen for sure. Amen should be the primary ball handler for the second unit, NOT Jalen. That experiment is over. Seeing Amen and Reed like Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard played together at Kentucky was magic. I see that but on a rocket ship with Amen!

Great pod Jackson. looking back over the last year and a half or so the Rockets have done exactly what they told us they were going to do. there have been rumors, but at the end of the day they did what they said. the front office likes this young team and they want a better look at it before they make any decisions as to how to improve it. we have heard the BIG GAME HUNTING line more than a couple of times yet the Rockets are staying the course. IMO it's the right thing to do. I think Reed can possibly be a good FVV replacement on a cheaper contract after nexr year. the trade of draft picks was stealing IMO. I agree the Nets could have made one nice trade and maybe squeaked into the ( play in) in the weak eastern conference which would drop the value of our picks. by moving the picks further out the Rockets have given themselves a 2 year window to look at what they have while the picks ripen on the vine. the western conference is going to be a dog fight with the teams expected to enter or re enter the playoff hunt. the Suns are happy to run it back now, but another flame out and things could change quickly. while we're waiting for that we still can put together a package good enough to chase any star that becomes available. that extension Stone got earlier this year is starting to look like a good investment. he started out as a few thorns, but now he is starting to smell like a rose

If Sheppard is the next John Stockton, it is a home run. If he is the next Mark Price the Rockets may have overreached at #3, but maybe not for this draft. Right now the Rockets have a full rotation of ten - Sengun, Adams, Smith, Eason, Brooks, Amen, Green, Cam, FVV, and Reed along with a good end of bench. They will need to look for another big, pg, and wing to replace Adams, FVV, and Brooks down the road. Maybe Griffin is a good replacement for Brooks. Time will tell. But Reed is going to need to be a point guard in this league. Amen will need to be point forward. Nothing wrong with that. Best use of his skills. Like you say, Reed on the outside and Amen slashing. Here is the deal on the Nets trade. In all likelihood, the Nets 2025 pick will be top ten with a good shot of moving up. Can’t say that about the Suns picks. However, the Suns picks have twice the chance of moving up if the Suns are in the lottery. Sun trades - Durant for Brooks, Landale, Tate and their picks back. But it needs to happen sooner than later. He ain’t getting younger. Booker is a strong possibility for Green, Landale , Tate and their picks. This is Green’s make or break it year. Needs to show consistence. We all see his incredible ability. Sengun already has proven himself. Frankly, I prefer Smith over Pablo. He already out rebounds Pablo and Chet.

The logic is wrong, man. The nets picks in next 2years are almost top 10 gurranteed . nets did the trade with houston then they asked high return from nicks. so we helped the nets turn the corner and now they are in a vry good rebuilding position. we could get at least 1 more first round pick from the nets. if i am the gm of nets i willvjust give one more pick to you, their own controllable picks are the most valuable picks, they have cap space, multiple picks, and their own picks, bright future. if we didnt d the trade, they will be stucked there. the nets gave up a little get tremendous return. It's hard t tell if stone won the trade but It's easy to say all fans of nets are hppy about the trade, they r clear winner. really bad trade

@@slickrick8046Jalen Green was supposed to be the primary ball handler for the second unit, but that did not work out so well this past year. Amen and Reed sharing ball-handling responsibilities when Fred is not on the floor will definitely work better than Jalen trying to be the primary ball handler and working on everything else he needs to fix in order to live up to his potential and get a contract extension. I hope he gets that chance now that we have BOTH Amen and Reed to back up Fred. When Fred went to the bench, our offense fell apart just about every time.

Still stone just didn’t get as much as he could have gotten for the 2025 swap. That one alone would have returned one more swap or pick than he got. Also the nets were gonna have to trade Mikal because he was gonna demand a trade. He had already told the Knicks FO that he wanted out. And the way that Stone said it it means that he wants to be good with everyone on the league just like last time when Brooks back out and Stone still traded Tyty and Josh. Stone might feel he needs to be good with everyone but he might get taken advantage. And another thing Stone will always picture things one way. He isn’t going to come and say how things happened. He is going to be a lawyer and painted the best possible way.

We aren’t going to “dead” that conversation. Trading the nets 2025 pick was extremely stupid. One sprained ankle by Bridges, if he was still on the Nets, puts that pick as automatic top 5 with possibility of lucking out to number one. Next years draft will be a good one. Dumb move.

One sprained ankle by the NBA's most consistent ironman who hasn't missed a single game in his entire career? Okay buddy.

@@LockedOnRockets the only thing worse than the trade was your take on the trade. A player can suffer a freak injury at anytime. Look at Senguin. Buddy.

It has been reported that by chance the Rockets would have traded back for pick #6 to OKC or #9 to the Grizzlies that needed a big like Clingan then the Spurs were going to probably draft Reed if he was available at 4. I know some fans were wanting Clingan but after some good coaching and training Reed seems a better prospect for the young promising team that Rockets are building. If he can shoot 38-42% in NBA it will be a great asset to our team.

Now if Reed can learn to pass the ball like Jason Williams the Rockets might have the next White Chocolate.

If anyone is wondering why Sheppard scores so high among the analytics crowd, it's because he can already shoot, he makes very few mistakes, he makes the right passing reads, and he's smart. That's pretty much it. They don't have to guess or project much about what he'll be able to do in the NBA. There's no question about whether or not he'll develop a good outside shot, like there is with Risacher, Castle, and most of the "ermuhgerd upside!" athletes in the draft.

@DwightSproull It’s because the analytics crowd don’t pay attention to volume which is a huge mistake.
