Respect sir kindly inform me can we solve y''+y=secx using non homogeneous second order ordinary differential equations using undetermined cofficient method Sir kindly inform me how can we solve
@HoustonMathPrep4 жыл бұрын
The DE y'' + y = sec x is not really suited for the undetermined coefficients method. Undetermined coefficients is used when we have an educated guess about the form of the particular function yp. Since it is extremely unlikely for us to know the form of yp for this DE (unless we have already solved it), this DE should be solved using the method of variation of parameters, shown at the following link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ6uqn6lap2Sgqs

Additionally, this MIT OpenCourseWare document explains why this DE is not technically a candidate for this method (beginning on page 19). ocw.mit.edu/resources/res-18-008-calculus-revisited-complex-variables-differential-equations-and-linear-algebra-fall-2011/study-materials/MITRES_18_008_partII_sol04.pdf#page=19
