A Prayer for Owen Meany and A Widow for One Year are two of my favorite books to read, save for a couple things. Not only of John Irving, but in general.

One of my most favorite authors of all time. I've read and re-read several of his novels and the impact they leave is just as strong. Thank you for all the amazing and heartbreaking and triumphant stories!

@@pillepalle6364 I'm reading it for the first time (currently about halfway through The Finger chapter). Have no idea how it will end. However, I'm concerned at a few of John's (Irving) choices in terms of answers and how the overall story will end, but I will wait and see how things play out. I will definitely be reading more of John's work. I love his prose; it's very relaxing.

Irving says during the interview, "I became a writer because of reading Charles Dickens and wanting to write a novel like that." In "The World According to Garp," he wrote about a writer's ambitions: "To keep everyone alive, forever. Even the ones who must die in the end. They're the most important ones to keep alive," and "A writer must love and worry each detail." Good stuff.

I love this interview. Just finished "Until I Find You"...feel weird like I usually do after finishing an Irving novel. I just need more...this interview helps.

Am I the only one annoyed that they talk about “This book”, “latest book” etc but are not telling us the title of the book during the interview?
