I'm always impressed, and a little amazed, that an ocean-going vessel from anywhere in the world, a "salty", can sail almost halfway across North America. The investment in the Soo Locks, the Welland Canal, the St. Lawrence Seaway, etc. has paid back more than a thousandfold.
