A dance film Casper Faassen and I collaborated on during the Corona-virus outbreak. I provided the movement direction/ choreography and performed it together with Chloé Albaret. With an original score by Bart Wirtz and Oscar de Jong.
Today, globally people live in isolation and oppression, while we celebrate 75 years of freedom in Europe and beyond (WWII). That juxtaposition inspired Casper Faassen to invite me to make a short film together combining these elements in an installation with dance. In the Pieterskerk in Leiden (build in 1390) we explored the different stages of freedom and isolation. Much like Lucas van Leyden’s triptych ‘Last Judgement’ the film also hopes to raise questions. What side of history are we on and choose to display? How do we judge those events in current times? One thing seems clear, we have to learn from our past and reach out to each other through compassion and humanity.
