Today we're talking about the extent to which people will go to make it big on KZbin. It's because of some of my bilingual fans that I figured out that another KZbinr has essentially made a living off stealing videos from other creators (including myself) and I felt the need to speak my mind and do something about it after getting virtually no response from KZbin or my MCN. I'm here to show you how egregious the theft really is in my case in particular. Let's see how deep this rabbit hole goes.

Some hot copyright tips from my own personal experiences: -If you strike a video and they take it down when the strike hits. The strike stays AND they can no longer contest it. -Also if you strike 4 videos in one hit, it counts as one strike. HOWEVER, if you strike 4 videos separately, and they go through, the channel gets taken down. BOOM.

I am hispanic and due to my nationality I am sorrounded by a fuckload of content creators who speak and produce content in spanish, and oh boy let me tell you, it's all awful, specially when you're dealing with these type of creators who are young and knew how to pirate Sony Vegas, and they have no sense of originality or any shame at all, I saw when you posted this on Twitter, Jeff, about one of your videos and Allbriel's channel, and the video had lots of footage from your video even keeping your own recordings and edits into his own basically just making a voiceover with toilet humor, and he didn't say a thing and just deleted or changed the video's privacy settings, and since a young audience that can't understand other languages is huge at least where I live, I notice that this audience consumes videogames and videos of this kind, and they would just watch it because they find it entertaining, and these creators know that because they know for a fact that these kids who watch their videos would probably never get close to a content creator who produces videos in another language, so they can rip them off and get away with it most of the times. There has been quite the controversy with channels that produce content in spanish that have been stealing content, like some guy who used to make Top 10 videos and would be on the trending page whenever he posted a new video, and a vast majority of videos were blatant ripoffs of other KZbin channels who produced said videos in the first place, like let's say WatchMojo (I'm not saying they are original or anything because they have been into some shit) put up a video about "The 10 hardest videogame bosses" and this other guy would make it less than 10 spots on that list, rearrange a couple and leave the rest like it was originally, and make it his, that being his attempt with the most effort, sometimes he would just steal it, with thumbnails and all. Hell, even one of my favorite content creators puts messages at the end of his videos saying that he made the video and that if you find it somewhere else, it was a reupload of the original, and I found a channel in (Oh, surprise!) spanish that was reuploading the same videos with white text on a black background over the original video's subtitles, and I sent it to him and thankfully it got taken down. But the point is, to be original, nobody is saying that if somebody makes a video about something, some other person can't make a video about the same topic. Of course people can make whatever the hell they want, but if they're being sketchy, they're going to be exposed sooner or later and they won't like it. Much love, Jeff

Actually, the saddest thing here is that Allbriel didn't take the highest and probably smartest route: come clean, and instead offer to become an official translator/editor for the various people he took from. Split the profits something like 40/60 (60% going to the original content creator) and he could've become the founder of a new micro-industry: translating youtube videos for more audiences. After all, he was skilled in translation from english to spanish, managing to keep most of the jokes (I think); and he was a skilled enough video editor to edit around the most obvious identifiable stuff. Plus, as his numbers showed, people loved the work he stole, so there was an audience.

I can understand if people inspired by your videos decide to make their own and inevitably end up doing some unintentional similarities at first, but the fact that this guy didn't want to learn how to make his videos more transformative over the course of being on KZbin since 2009, decided to just keep duplicating your stuff even at the 200,000 subscriber mark he had reached, didn't bother crediting you, and even blocked you is really unfortunate and disappointing to see. I can say, as a fledgling KZbin creator who is experimenting with a lot right now, my inspirations from the creators I watch DEFINITELY shows. I try not to copy outright, because I want my own twist, but I do have some jokes or gags that are visually similar or structured similarly.

Just a guess but I think what happened is the person wasn't good at trying to create their own things made 1 or 2 videos (the first 2) didn't have success and from then on stole the rest of their videos and passed them off as their own. I could be wrong about this but from what I can tell it seems pretty plausible. In short they just became either really greedy or really desperate for money but it's a very despicable thing to do.

Thats totaly fine. A lot of content creators and/or artists have some sort of inspiration. If you look at a lot of gaming youtubers, they took a lot of inspiration from the AVGN and tried to do their own style (except for the irate gamer). I imagine even SpaceHamster Jeff himself took inspiration from others. BUT the most important part is, to make it into your very own work, not just stealing content and nothing else.

It sucks even more by the fact that if he's getting so many views means that he actually would have space and visibility if he was doing actual creative work, those people are eager for content, but instead of work with that, he is stealing... I say that because I live in Brazil, were youtube is not the best, a place where creative content is almost never worth enough the work, so if you want to do cool stuff you will have a hard time, witch makes most channels do only what is guaranteed and if you choose to do what you like anyways your channel will not get any visibility... Two months later but yeah. For awhile Jeff was editing for Austin hence an extreme lack of content on his main channel during that time. You're not wrong in thinking their content is very similar as they have very similar senses of humour. But since it's all legal and I like their style of content and since they do different vids (I think they actually discuss these things so they make sure they don't accidentally both upload a video about the same thing at the same time so they don't step on eachother's toes), just means more content I like.

This surprises me because i was an allbriel sub before i knew about this, and the reason was the edits, i thought he made them and i was like "damn, this guy makes really fun edits, he deserves way more subs for his work" but sadly the only thing that he is doing is literally translating the videos that he stole. I think he only gets views for the titles and banners of his videos, because he uses stupid phrases and memes that mostly latin americans understand. I knew that there was something wrong in his videos, ´cause all of his footage, screenshots, and googleing stuff was in english, something weird in a channel that is focused on spanish language. I mean, there is some people that understands english (like me) but is a detail that is suspectful. This is absolutely disgusting, and very frustrating -- especially since claiming the stolen videos is basically useless because the thief can just remove the video and try to destroy evidence. Also, speaking as someone from the music side of KZbin, this definitely happens to us too. Especially with "nightcore" versions, etc

Although nightcore is "somewhat" transformative though even if it is just sped up since it physically sounds completely different. Comparatively this guy just stole all his content removed a few things talked in Spanish and claimed it was his video. If though someone took the music exactly as it is then uploaded it but claimed credit and monetization then yeah that's definitely wrong to do and pretty scummy. Also I've seen some nightcore videos that also shift the pitch in addition to speeding it up and adding other elements though in my opinion even just speeding it up makes it different enough. Ultimately there will always be people who try to cheat the system and they do eventually get caught like what happened here. Yet the huge problem is whether it is transformative in what they did differently. In the instance here I'd argue it's not whatsoever, yes it's in another language but it would've been better to add closed captions for instance rather than needing an entirely separate video that is basically the same thing. Maybe this will cause there to be a push for more subtitles and that wouldn't really be a bad thing. I'm completely agreed though as far as deleting videos in order to destroy evidence, it's bad enough when people delete any video on KZbin even worse in a case like that. In my opinion videos once they are on KZbin should stay there just so long as it's not violating the terms of service that KZbin has. That principle is why there are so many reuploads because people like me feel like they should remain on here. Yet people who steal others videos should just be banned or else have all their videos they stole taken down the money returned to whoever it was stolen from only leaving whatever videos weren't stolen (in the case of all the videos being stolen in deletes all of them) also I feel like they need some kind of penalty as well in order to prevent them from just uploading another stolen video. I mean I guess technically the guy's account should just be banned since he stole so many videos but I feel like at the very least he shouldn't be making money off them. Anyways you probably disagree with me regarding nightcore videos but otherwise I agree completely with you.

Yeah, take it from a musician, there's nothing transformative about taking a song, putting it in an editor and timeshrinking it. It takes 3 seconds to make. As far as I'm concerned, taking someone's song and making a nightcore version of it is theft. Comparatively Allbriel actually did MORE work in his stolen vids.

Well if the original artists of the song made a nightcore version by themselves they could then claim other videos that were exactly the same. The original artists probably wouldn't make that video though because they feel like the original version is the best. There are people on both ends actually some people prefer the original versions the artists put out and some prefer the nightcore versions. The thing is though is that nightcore physically sounds completely different than the original version that the artists put out which does make it transformative since it's completely different. Sure the lyrics are the same but due to how nightcore works they may be almost unheard depending on the song and like I said some do add other elements as well. The same nightcore song may have 2 or more different versions of the song depending on whether it's solely sped up or if things are added as well. Also regarding him doing more work than that you're not completely wrong but there's a huge difference. In one case the music sounds completely unrecognizable compared to the original and in this case he stole the whole video did some minor edits to not get caught and only changed the vocal parts while it's the editing and video that Spacehamster spent a lot of time on. Yes the vocals do also take some time but comparatively Nightcore makes it unique while Allbriel just stole the whole video didn't add his own take of the content at all only removed some stuff and talked in Spanish instead of English. Ultimately like I said we probably just won't agree with this but I'll say this again if the artists themselves feel somehow cheated by nightcore versions and so on if they just made those versions themselves they could then claim people's videos who had the exact same as you said lazy 3 second edit and then it would work out for the most part. Granted then people might try to be sneaky and alter some stuff to get around it but there's a difference between that and adding all new things the song itself never had that makes it sound better. Also if something sounds completely different than the original how is that not transformative? If there's no difference then yeah that's complete theft and I'd argue if they take the video part itself that's also theft, however if they change how the whole video sounds and also don't use the video that the original used I don't think that's theft. I still doubt we'll ever agree on this though so I'm probably just wasting my time trying to convince you that there are some perspectives to consider. Also as one last point things that are unique should be allowed to exist as deleting those kinds of videos only stifles creativity, you'd probably spend more time hunting down videos and the reuploads and the reuploads of those reuploads and so on when you could just make a whole other track that could potentially do well. Yet in cases like SpaceHamster mentioned it's outright theft there was literally no difference besides language which as I mentioned already should've prompted there to be subtitles not a full new video in Spanish (or any other language for that matter). Anyways that's probably it and I doubt I'll manage to convince you though at least you might be able to see another perspective to all this as viewing something from just one perspective is always a bad idea.

Antonio the Wabbit It sounds like a good idea, but it's not really worth the effort. When dubbing something to another language, the line delivery is often bad and unnatural, some jokes don't work, and it takes off the "feel" from the original. That's why a lot of people prefer subs over dubs when it comes to watching something in a different language. I can see the appeal, but it's better to just make your own video and write your own script, or just add captions to the original video

Not just credit. What proper professional people do in such cases is License.. they straight up pay for license to localize content in other language.

Antonio the Wabbit translations should be up to SpaceHampster and most the earnings from a translated video would still go to him. No different than a translated movie or book. I can see maybe paying a flat fee for translations, but no reason for him to get continued financial gain from this

I tried looking for the channel with the website in the description and I can gladly say that this guys channel does not exist anymore. He took the whole channel down so he won’t be stealing anyone’s videos. So I think that’s a victory.
