Hey guys, sadly, I used clips from Math Hoffa's "MY EXPERT OPINION" podcast and KZbin demonetized my video 24 HOURS after uploading, claiming that it was copyrighted. Its weird cuz they usually tell you before hand if any copyright is detected. So i had to make some trims to the video around the 10 minute mark and the 16 minute mark. I apologize that it jumps ahead and stuff. I spent a long time trying to make it right to avoid having to reupload cuz I really HATE doing that. Sucks man, the things he said in this podcast we're really great, if you guy want more clarity of how much Savage has evolved, I suggest you check out the full podcast here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2rKamNneN1jg5I

I think a lot of people started to see something in 21 due to the fact despite how tough his upbringing was, his maturity and dedication to the grind had him pulling away from the rest of that XXL Freshman class... Then seeing him get the co-sign from first Snoop, next Cole, as well as Jay going out of the way to help with his ICE situation, esp since they were all OG's skeptical of that new "mumble rap" generation... it really bumped his cred into the upper echelons of rap super-stardome.

@@Twastwas211Andy and Denzel objectively were the weird ones out of the rest. I say this in a good way because they didn’t need to hop on trends. They had their own style already when their contemporaries found theirs years later. Lil Yachty being Pink Floyd rap is a recent example. What OP meant is that the OG’s who helped him did so because they probably saw themselves in him. Jay came from Marcy, Snoop was part of crips and beated a big ass case. Cole saw the roughness of Raleigh.

He’s a middle of the line rapper. He don’t mumble rap but he not lyrical. He’s not boring but he’s not exciting. He has a recognizable voice but it’s easy to recreate it. He has radio hits but not a hit maker. He has subject matter but it’s the same you get from every other street rapper. He’s getting better in the same lane instead of creating his own lane. He’s easy to hear and not get tired of but it’s not the type of music that you always want to hear. He’s not bad. He’s not mid. He’s not great. Think the fact he was a bit older, in his early/mid 20s when he started blowing up helped him. Whilst obviously still young, his brain was much more developed to build something up and act in the right way than people like Pump who was literally 15/16 when he blew up.

I remember J Cole’s interview where he stopped showing opulence, thinking it’s outplayed and actually changed for the better during the FHD era. 21 displays that same maturity Cole once had, but in his own way and that probably convinced Cole to build a working relationship with Savage or acted as his mentor.

Thank you for this, I didn't know anything about him, I just know that I heard A Lot a year after it came out and tbh, it's the only Jcoles feature I liked where I'm not waiting on Jcole. A lot is very similar to No Love, where you get two really good rappers with equality, except you expect one to outshine the other because they're known to do so, but the underdog kept up. What this video really explains tho, is that he's in a competition with himself, and everytime you outdo yourself, you leave a worse version of yourself behind, he's also given himself a tangible purpose, this prevents him from blowing his cash on crap. He's also learning from others. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's got on Eminems radar 😂

But He really earned my respect as an artist with his 7th album “i am> i was”. The beat selections, slight vulnerability, and great production on this tape really impressed me. I hate the idea that theres such thing as "mumble rap" there isnt, its just ignorant old heads that cant wrap their brain around new sound. All of them knew damn well they could understand these bois, they were just tilted because theyre washed up and boring now

This dude had to put down every other rapper just to say 21 has matured. Many rappers from the SoundCloud generation are still flourishing.

after watching this video i have a new level of respect for 21 savage he is as real as it gets ima be honest i never liked his music much so never listened much just like you know typical saying mumble but recently i think in general lil zan pump and all of these people just had a wave nothing much just like a viral meme or post nowadays but the real artists who just took those hits because of them have made it a real genre in which they really speak bars and words that are Understandable and growed and have made music which is in my opinion really well i was just listning to his album and really understood the music well and it just so happened i liked him as a person what a fucking coincidence but on the other hand people like me just have to move on now from that eminem and era of rappers that was bars and bars and loads of bars i am not saying anything those 90's and 2000's hits are golden classic hits and i love but we have to respect that every artist have their limits ranges and creativity form you won't ever see eminem or 50 cent even trying to do anything like kanye or travis so how can you expect these new artist to do something like that or like anyone give them a chance and listen to it as music not mumbality in your head then decide
