Zinchenko will have been signed to play LCM no doubt about it. He will cover for Tierney when necessary, as I expect Tavares to be sent out on loan now. Partey will play CDM with Ode/Vieira RCM. In transitions when Arsenal attack, Tierney overlaps on the left wing to create width, Martinelli tucks inside essentially forming a second striker alongside Jesus. Zinchenko will be tasked with holding the left central midfield area and to drop into LB during these transitions. He is going to be an essential cog in the Arteta machine. Xhaka doesn’t have the athleticism, defensive tactical awareness or technique to play this position effectively. Zinchenko is an AMAZING signing! He may not light up the league with goals or assists but he is going to be fundamental in how Arsenal setup.

As an Arsenal fan from Ukraine I'm happy about Zinchenko. Back in 2006 when Shevchenko joined Chelsea everyone here suddenly became a Chelsea fan which was annoying so hoping for a similar effect with Zinchenko and Arsenal. And needless to say he's a top quality versatile player which is also nice.

I’m a big fan of the Zinchenko signing but I would’ve liked to see us going for Tielemans as an upgrade on xhaka. If Zinchenko is purely an option for depth and we end up getting Tielemans then I think this is a great pickup

Tielemans is not much of an upgrade on xhaka. He's just more of a goal threat. Xhaka is very underrated for Arsenal. He just gets the odd red card a couple times each season. I'd rather buy someone who can cover for Partey when he inevitably gets injured. Bissouma was my first choice but now I'd go for Sangare

And he's given him a new contract because he's good to have around to help the younger players out, plus he still puts in a shift when he plays and looks after himself so is still as fit as most the players. @@CashMNey So why not offer him a coaching role instead? Henderson provides the leadership qualities he does anyway and is club captain. He's not nearly good enough to be playing for Liverpool. I know he's supposed to be the 6th choice CM but all of our midfielders pick up frequent injuries and he often starts ahead of the three CMs players that are ahead of him because they aren't up to standard either. Henderson was poor as an eight last season and would much better as a backup to fabinho in the six. Naby had an okay 6.5/10 season but is very injury prone and 1/4 good seasons isn't good enough. Ox seems like he is being phased out of the team, not even any mentions of contract negotiations. That 3rd RCM spot is a huge issue. Keeping James Milner says to me that Klopp is content with a 36 year old playing regular football. We have a total of 10 players who could play midfield so Klopp doesn't see any reason to buy a better quality midfielder. I'm sick of him coming out saying Naby is world class and how Ox is such a dynamic midfielder. Neither are good enough and should be sold ASAP. There's no room left in the squad for new signings. We are just hording an old Milner for the sake of it, it prevents us from progressing and why we'll go another year without a major trophy in my opinion.

Love the move. Think his versatility will be crucial. Imagine he will get time in midfield but I don't think he's being signed as a LCM exclusively. Expect him to get 2.5k minutes or so this season but could easily see that being 10 games at left back 15 at LCM, 2-3 at RCM etc.. Imagine he will be playing all over the place and was likely sold on being a key contributor getting a huge boost in minutes, rather than being promised an exclusive run at his favored position.

Zinchenko is really good. Very technical and skilful. Reminds me of the great Leonardo from the AC Milan team. Can play all 3 positions on the left comfortably. Kyle Walker said Zinchenko, Mahrez and Silva as top 3 most skilful players in the Man City team. Even better than De Bruyne, Foden and Sterling.

What you said makes sense but I don't think now after Zinchenko, we would sign another left back now if it is a low price back up pick up. As far as challenging top 4 is considered, I think a cover for saka would be required for sure. He's 20 and can't play the same amount of games like he did last season otherwise we would be risking another wilshere situation. If a right player pops up, there is a chance that we might get another LCM (Youri probably) or if we are really lucky, a physical striker as a back up probably. These cases are highly unlikely but hoping for the best 🤞

Chelsea don’t need to sign defenders, why are ‘fans’ and ‘pundits’ obsessed with signings. We already have oldies Silva and Koulibaly, and then have Chalobah, Saar and Colwill to utilise.
