You forgot one other major thing that changed the industry 50 cent is the reason companies started signing artist to 360 deals he had clothes, video game, shoes,movies, vitamin water and interscope only got bread off the music
@DiverseMentality
@DiverseMentality 7 жыл бұрын
hahahha yes! That was another thing, 50 Cent really took advantage of other deals outside of music and the 360 deal was invented by labels so that there would be no more artists like 50 banking off of more stuff other than music.

You want to know why everyone hates 50 cent???? It's because when 50 blew blew up he refused to any features with other artist. He basically told other labels to fuck off. Diddy and even dre were mad because 50 cent was doing things that only diddy was doing at the time. Within two years 50 cent had a diamond album, his own group which every artist went platinum on their first album, his own clothing and shoes and even had his own water.
@DiverseMentality
@DiverseMentality 7 жыл бұрын
Brando Williams, that has somewhat to do with it, you gotta remember that when 50 got shot nobody wanted to associate themselves with him so thats why he didn't do features as much cause when he was down and out nobody wanted him but when he got hot everyone wanted him like how he said in "High All The Time".
@Alansworstnight
@Alansworstnight 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly and the industry struck back by trying to black ball him around '06 '07, and by '08 he was seen as an artist that "fell off" but it was far from that, his music just wasn't played or promoted anymore, and other artists were getting massive attention and promotion although 50 was the better artist by miles 😔😭😭😭

💯🔥Yes, I knew he changed hip hop in those two major ways. Also I don’t believe he gets enough props and recognition for those actions nowadays. I was born in 2000, and I learned about 50 cent at a very, very young age. Elementary school, young age. I saw his movie, “Get Rich or Die Tryin," and I heard three of his songs on there that caught my attention. “When it Rains it Pours," “Window Shopper," and “I’ll Whip ya Head Boy." After that, I never stopped listening to his music till this day. I didn’t just listen to his hit songs, I also listened to his classic mixtapes. I have to say, 50 cent is one of the realist rappers that have ever done it in the rap game. I am 18, and I am still listening to his music and giving him his props over all of these new rappers. There are a few good rappers out, like Joyner Lucas, and Kendrick Lamar, but I’m talking about 50 cent. 50 cent is one of the G.O.A.T.’s, no doubt about that at all. 💯🔥

I remember being a teen in high school and the mixtape scene was being ran by G-unit. 50's mixtapes were always being coped. Little did I know about mixtapes fully, so I did not know at the time these were not major releases from a record lable. Also, the remixes being made, gave a different energy while mixing it with the original song at dances. So that was what I liked. However... I remember all that build up to the most anticipated album, and man... That shit flew throughout the bitch and was being heard in rides, heavy rotation on radio for In Da Club, PIMP, Wanksta... Just to name a few. And I swear, females kept asking for In Da Club even after it was played at a dance. PLUS!! Even Grandmas were digging that song. That was my memory from his rise. He's a tycoon. All respect to him.

I lived in a place and time when nothing of music came to my neighborhood. 50 was the first black rapper I was introduced to. The first rap songs I heard were Without me and Superman. And compared to funny Slim Shady songs, his songs were something else. I was basically 10 years old when I stole my older cousin’s CD cos the cover looked cool, thought it was an action movie. It was the Get rich or die tryin video album and it completely blew my mind. I’ve been his biggest fan ever since.

50 hands down 🙌🏾 I never feel like listening to someone else’s music even if it means I listen to the same song again and again. I’ve been running massacre and get rich or die trying on repeat since 2008.

Nice video mate. It is not a "no brainer" to get equity in the company instead of money up front. There is a risk involved. You don´t know beforehand if the company will do good or not. If Vitamin Water for example would not sell that well and shut down eventually 50cent would end up with 0$ instead if he would have got money up front. Im just pointing out the risk factor which you did not mention. Im binge watching these videos now. Keep up the good work. New subscriber here.

50 cent was the shit when those mixtapes came out, but you're ignoring one of the biggest ways he changed the music industry- he killed NY hip hop. 97-03 everything was coming outta NY or nj and philly. 50 started beefing and pressuring labels to shelve NY rappers' albums (like dblock) or attacking ts and murder inc and the next thing you know lil jon and mike jones and all these southern rappers flooded the market. "Down South know how to have fun and don't just beef all the time" everyone said. By 2005 the south took over and NYC aint produce big artists since. Dudes like papoose came out and impressed everyone, but that boom bop was played out. 50 killed it. One of my favorite artists of all time, but he still killed NY hip hop. That's his biggest contribution to the industry for better or worse

Pete - I was wanting to explore this topic and I will eventually made a video dedicated to this and to people that think 50 Cent killed NY Hip-Hop. I disagree, for me to explain it in this message would be insanely long hopefully I can do a video on why I feel like he didn't soon. But it's a very good argument and a lot of great ways to look at it. Not saying you're wrong or that I'm right just multiple ways to look at it.

Pete 50 didn't destroy NY, he got him and Gunit in the door. Everybody turned their back on him after he got shot like he said on Patiently Waiting. That Ja beef was real and it just rolled into the industry with him. Anybody stood next to Ja he had to get at them too its common sense. These rappers you thought was koo with you get ghost when you lose value how would you feel? 50 put Banks,Buck,Yayo, and basically birthed Games career. Rocafella broke up internally,Ruff Ryder's fell off and Bad Boy didn't produce artists that could maintain...not 50 fault.

Pete not true at all. I'm from Brooklyn, NYC. and what happen is that people didn't fuck with the NYC sound anymore...how many rappers were rhyming off Rza, Pete Rock, Primo & Q-Tip beats after 2004? The gutter sound was left behind cause people wanted to party. Let's not forget how any NYC rappers were spitting on Timbo & The Neptune's beats.

Maxim Belmont And I'm from across the bridge in JC. I'm not talking about 1993 36 chambers/ illmatic beats. I'm talking about that boom bop sound that was still in the clubs in 04. I was born in 86, I remember when the roc, g unit, fab, diset, etc were making club bangers. And I remember Nore rapping on Neptunes beats and it was still NY. Master P, Outkast, Scarface- they were good, but they ain't take over. It wasn't until after piggy bank you started hearing knuck if you buck and get on my level everywhere

He also made fans more conscious of record sales. Nobody really checked for first week numbers to dictate whether or not an album flopped until he started boasting about it & belittling rappers who's albums didn't sell
