Your expansion tank is either: 1. not filled with enough pressurized air (usually 12 ps.i. for most residential units.) 2. blown: the bladder has popped and there is nowhere for your air to stay in place. 3. too small for your system design.

yes. It's called a "closed system." Water gets put in to fill the whole system and that same water stays in the system, circulating by the pumps.

I swear being in a boiler room is one of my biggest phobias, my mind is constantly telling me to get out because if the boiler or a pipe explodes I'm gonna burn to death most likely, I fear boilers no matter how much tech tell me they are safe or else we wouldn't have them on our houses and yes ik a boiler or pipe that is about to exploit will give obvious and multiple signals and enough time to go away but still I hate going to the boiler room at my job.
