For those doubting whether CMC is a top 5 running back, look at the career scrimmage yards per game: Jim Brown (125.5), Barry Sanders (118.9), Christian McCaffrey (115.4), Walter Payton (111.9), Marshall Faulk (108.8), LaDainian Tomlinson (108.6). He's right there in the mix. And he already has 81 TDs, in only 91 games. If he plays out his 4 remaining contract years and stays healthy, he could end up with 140 TDs, which would put him at No. 7 all-time (including wide receivers), ahead of Payton, Peterson, Brown and Faulk, trailing only Tomlinson, Allen and Smith.

Add a couple more sports to McCaffrey's athletic pedigree. His uncle, Bill McCaffrey, won a national championship in basketball with Duke, and was a pre-season all-American his senior year. In addition to winning an Olympic silver medal in the 100 meters, Dave Sime initially went to Duke on a baseball scholarship, and also played on the football team -- and was a standout in both sports.

Bro Mccaffrey is hella good, but there's no way you're even thinking about putting him in a conversation w/ Barry Sanders and the other top running backs of all time. I don't doubt the potential he has to get there, and I'm sure he will... one day. But right now he's not even really close just because of his time with the Panthers and he still has plenty more years.
@760dalewis10 ай бұрын
Mccaffery is good but not Sanders, Smith, Payton good. He is not quite on the level of LT unless you try cherry picking 2 of his 8 seasons. You need to go back and check those college stats. Mccaffery had 109 more rushing attempts than Barry Sanders yet only had 366 yards more on the ground and the 21tds by Mccaffrey are good but do not compare to Barry's 48. Sure he caught a lot of balls for another 1200+ yards, but that is a coaching decision not a player's. So yeah Mccaffrey is good, but far from being the best of the best. And those Carolina years with little play time, that just allowed him to be the player he is now. He is in his 8th year, and had a good chunk missing getting banged up thanks to Carolina

Dude I think you really need to go back and watch film on Marshall Faulk when he was with the Rams. I watched Faulk live and in person. I guarantee CMC would tell you he couldn’t hold Faulks jock strap. Faulk was actually an a better all round football player than Sanders, Brown, Dickerson, LT etc. and since 1999 RBs have been chasing Faulk. CMC will get a gold jacket. But this comparison would be silly. As a receiver Faulk was the best to ever do it. He actually ran an entire WR route tree. As a pure runner as good as any that ever toted the rock. He was he heads and shoulders above the rest in identifying a blitz and pass pro. This 49ers team is copying a lot of what the Rams did back then…and the funny thing is the Rams biggest enemy back then was none other than John Lynch and the Bucs. Lynch knew what he was constructing with the 49ers offense and this current offense was right out of the Rams play book with Faulk and GSOT. CMC is not the same back Faulk was… is he great in this era absolutely. But in my Faulk was the best of all time and it’s not close. As good he was with the colts he became even better with that Rams. Unbelievable. Two league MVP, offensive player of year. The most tds by a rb in NFL history til LT broke it. No one could cover him not LBs or DBs. Moves like Barry Sanders and smooth as hell as a receiver. Ran between the tackles outside the tackles didn’t matter. When CMC gets a ring we can talk more… until then he is top 10 maybe. But Faulk in my book is number one.
