I am so glad I was able to find a video essay that so succinctly describes what my favorite part about fincher films is. This guy and his sound editor add so much freakin ambience to a scene it’s magnetic.

For me, this channel has some of the best content on the art and mechanics of film. Once I discovered your videos I couldn't stop watching. I'll be revisiting these many times. Also, I'm excited about whats coming next, and thank you for your insights and fresh perspective ..

We really do try to look at films from a perspective that maybe isn’t covered as much. There are so many really great channels doing the same on KZbin, so it’s always nice to hear someone commenting that this channel is perhaps bringing something new to that conversation. So glad you’ve found these videos helpful, and we definitely plan on keeping the videos coming!

This is your best edited video yet. I could tell that a lot of work went into it. So glad you talked about the sound design of Fincher films. It has always been the least talked about collaboration in his career and The Killer made a lot of people to finally notice the brilliance. Thumbnail made me expect a deeper dive on The Killer but still glad of what I got. The subjectivity in sound design of The Killer is one of the best I've heard. This is why Fincher is one of the greatest directors of all time. He makes sure to know what each department in his production does and helps them peak at the same time so no efforts are wasted. Great video!

Yeah the thumbnails are always tricky. When we cover a topic that is broad, it can be hard to figure out one image that conveys what the vid is about. Thanks for noticing the edit - really tried hard to get it as tight as possible!

Crazy how this far down the KZbin rabbit hole there's still incredible insightful and original ideas being put to the short essay format. This got me thinking about movies in a fresh new way and all I can say is thank you and keep up the awesome work. I love your channel!

His film ,,Seven,, is so enthralling and at the same time so hard to watch, but it is a masterpiece you want to watch again and again.

Magnificent video, everyone adopts the visual but I have always loved Fincher's sound aspect.

Yeah, Ren Klyce’s work is pretty incredible, and he really pushes/evolves the idea of what sound design can do in The Killer - specifically with what he’s referred to as “vertical sound cutting.” Sound can be one of those aspects of a film that goes unnoticed, but when you pay attention, it becomes apparent just how much storytelling power it can have.

Nice work. It can't be said enough: Fincher's use of natural sounds (birds, insects, etc.) play a huge role in the atmosphere of his films. This is especially true in TGWTDT and GG.

Maybe a stretch, but I think the sound of the floor polisher could also foreshadow the sound of the tattoo machine later

Most janitors know that it takes about four or five minutes to polish a hallway, one end to the other. The effect was never realistic.

It’s definitely proving to be one of Fincher’s more polarizing films.
