You don’t realize how through the ancient times our ancestors developed our civilization, including the language, food, culture, festivals, architecture etc. To develop such sophisticated social structure and cultural heritage when there was no modern education is unthinkable. So to try to disgrace their believes by saying that it’s “blushing” is nth but pure arrogance. Never forget who we are and where we come from. There could be some practices which must be discouraged but overall it’s our heritage.

I don't know how many girls in her community will be brainwashed into thinking that being kumari is a something being proud of. The tradition is a child abuse. There will be a lot of problem while transitioning from goddess to normal person. Being an ex kumari, she knows how difficult it is but just because it is working for her in terms of career development and media attention she is getting , she wants this tradition to continue. Just because she is educated, people believe whater she says. She is a human being, she lies, she has her insecurities, she has dreams like humans.

@@Ashma-t4h I am sure you dont even know how hard it is for their parents to sustain this tradition. The economic pressure that they have to go through while getting less to none help from the state. So this is no all flowers and sunshine for them. For this tradition which has been going on since millenias, we Newa community are for preserving our culture rather than blindly destroying in the name of modernity. I am sure changes would be made inorder for them to cope with the current environment and there has been changes being made so that this tradition continues in the future. Many other kumaris lead a normal life while only fullfilling their duties during festivities. This same model can be implemented by the remaining two kumaris who live in seclusion. So you should study this tradition in more depth before painting it all black!

Kanya is the one who is called a virgin who is menturating. Basic Sanskrit . So u r saying she should be kept as the unmarried godess even after her menstural age where she produce all feelings a women would have . U r mesogenyistic. And Durga in her supreme form is a kanya . That form is of godess Lalitha . Whose three forms one is baala the Kumari . Then shodashi the 16 year old that's Hindu marriageable age .
