What is your manufacturing experience like? Generally automation is very difficult if the line isnt the same for years on end. With Polaris, they make sleds for a few months a year, not 24/7/365 for years on end.

agree man. I think the worst for someone like me is the lack of info Polaris gave to people wanting to snow check. I was number 2 in line with my dealer to order a boost. They were told they would only get 1 boost allocation but Polaris told them it can change and they would let us know. Well guess what? Never got a real answer. So, I wasn't even able to snow check a non boost because of the deadline even though they told me I would know before the snow check deadline. I am glad I didn't sell my Cat because I would of be SOS.

Looks like a very cool operation! I love to see that Polaris products are made in my home state but being a small engine mechanic for 7 years and then a diesel mechanic going on three years sort of prohibits me from buying them. The reliability is just not there IMO. I have worked on many snowmobiles and atv’s (mostly polaris because that’s what people mainly seem to buy around here) but the newest one I really have experience with is a customer’s 2014 RMK assault 800. That sled has lost three engines in 2000 miles. I think the problem has been solved by turning up the oil pump and premixing the fuel 100:1 for additional security but time will tell.
@DavidSmith-tu1nd
@DavidSmith-tu1nd 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know about your buddies sled but I have 2 friends that have rmk's. One is an Indy and he uses it for ice fishing here in Colorado and no problems. This year will be 4 years of use. My other friend has a 800 rmk tuned for high Alpine riding and he rides his sled hard and he's had no issues.
@stevenvanheel3932
@stevenvanheel3932 3 жыл бұрын
@@DavidSmith-tu1nd one of my buddies has an edge X 700 which is actually overall a decent sled and he just bought a brand new rmk 850 so time will tell how that holds up. Another one of my buddies has a 14 rmk assault 800 that is on its 3rd engine with 1400 miles on the sled. The engine machinist turned up the oiling on it because he said that all of those sleds run lean on oil which I 100% believe. Yamaha’s are by far the most reliable sleds I have ever seen and any two stroke made by them smokes like crazy but the engines just plain last. I have had experience with many wedge chassis sleds and IQ chassis sleds. It seems like the only real reliable ones are the fan cooled ones (with the exception of the super sport, what a pos that sled was) and the smaller bore liquid twins. I have worked on so many polaris snowmobiles and ATV’s (especially sportsman’s) and I hate to say it but the build quality and reliability is just piss poor when compared to some of their competitors.
@DavidSmith-tu1nd
@DavidSmith-tu1nd 3 жыл бұрын
@@stevenvanheel3932 the Indy my friend has is a fan cooled engine now that I think about it. You're right about two strokes if run too lean you fire the engine. I own a Yamaha 2 Stroke sled but it does give me hope that America can make a good product again. Hope my buddies Indy keeps running good. We need snow here, it's the driest I've ever seen it in Colorado.

I've ridden Polaris my entire life and been riding since I was 5. It's nice to see that they have plants in America but I think the quality of Polaris has dropped over the past couple of years. It seems like every 2 years or so they have a new engine before they even fix all the bugs in the last one they made. Every time I turn around I hear about them having crank problems and piston problems and ecu's burning up. Now this year they said that some of the crank bearings were pressed in backward and some of the sleds at the dealer don't even have engines in them because of it and it's a huge recall. The quality control can't be that good if you miss something that important on a sled. All of my Polaris's have run great and I do still like them, but I think it's time to switch. I have finally made the choice to switch to Ski-Doo. I've always liked Ski-Doo and haven't heard many bad things about them. Anyway, just thought you would appreciate my little story since I'll be joining your team BRP fan :).

And how many years have ALL the manufacturers been doing spring order? If this was a shock it’s probably best you stay away from the rest of us on the mountain anyway. Btw, my local dealer has plenty of sleds, as do plenty of others. No excuses here buddy unless you actually ordered on and won’t be getting it because of supply chain (that sucks). But, you didn’t sooooo.

Are there any microchips in these causing the shortage? Is there a labor shortage? I don't think so. The four companies are intentionally keeping supply low.

@@hansthompson All of those. And ya I’m sure you’re right, companies hate to sell a lot of their product and make good money for themselves and their investors. Sounds to me like you’re just bitter about something. Enough with the excuses on why you can’t afford a sled this year.

Don't get me wrong I love Polaris but the lady at the beginning was wrong because Joseph-Armand Bombardier invented the first snowmobile and that was in Quebec, Canada

Now Polaris just needs to build a new manufacturing plant outside of the radical leftwing state of Minnesota and maybe they'd find some quality workers and their engines wouldn't be recalled every couple years and their quality control would be among flawless seeing as they're charging from $12-$25 grand per snowmobile.

Is that where they had to replace the original motors with a second updated motor right from factory before release? Lmao

They own a king air! Super cool. Now i know why they charge more for their 9R than doo wants for a turbo R. 😂
