Very true, in his prime Pirlo can pull 2-3 full 90 min games per week, especially when his coach Carlo Ancelotti was not someone very flexible with starting lineups. What he lacks in strength he makes up for it with great positioning to gain advantage on the ball, so his defensive game was not too weak either
@amroagami5733 ай бұрын
He was able to keep high levels of Stamina only necessary to his type of play. No wasted sprints or unnecessary physical contact.
@DidYaServe3 ай бұрын
Pirlo had plenty of stamina but he liked to grow into the match instead of starting at 100% running effort. He wasn't especially slow either. Obviously, he didn't have massive pace but you can't play at his level without at least good acceleration and agility.
@laszlobandi64563 ай бұрын
when gatusso covered him, 2-3x a game made defensive effort, like slides. breaking the tempo was his job, or maldini, you can't run faster than a ball. he was 12-14 out of 20 in football manager game before the dream team.
@landochabod73 ай бұрын
Pirlo had very little stamina, let's be honest. He hardly ever broke through with a solo play, he hardly ever did tackles and slides, he gain backed very few possessions. He had players like Gattuso and Ambrosini (and later, at Juventus, Vidal or Marchisio) do that for him. This became especially visible in the years 2007-2010, when he and Seedorf went from world-class players to almost liabilities for AC Milan, whose midfield was getting out-run and out-tackled by just about everyone. In order to win their next Scudetto, in 2011, they had to go the muscolar route: Flamini played more than Pirlo that season, the trequartista was K.P. Boateng and Van Bommel joined in late January, playing 14 league games.
@YewrMan22 күн бұрын
@landochabod7 He had stamina. Tackling and winning back possession is more about aggression than stamina. He had stamina and could pace it through a game and he used it for what was important, running the show.
@manuelrota62683 ай бұрын
When asked how did he learn to keep/ protect the ball for so long he replied: as a child player my teammates would never pass me the ball, so I had to take it from them. And once I got the ball my own teammates would tackle me, so I've learned to dribble everybody (both the opponent team and his own team players) in order to keep the ball and score. Some personality there..
