After you hit enemy with 2 or 3, or knock enemy up with your 1 you apply Frostbite effect on enemy. Enemies with frostbite on them take increased dmg from ymir's basic attacks. He wanted to utilize that single frostbite to the max cuz he knew he won't kill all mobs on single frostbite (then it wouldn't really matter in which order he kills them, since it'll be quick anyway) and he also didn't want to use his 3 (better to have it ready for potential teamfight in any moment) just to apply another frostbite. Just a matter of dmg optimalization in this case. Interesting fact about ymir, when you go jungle and start with bluestone pendant, you actually have to hit all ur basics into big minion in first priority, cuz if u don't do it, the frostbite will fade and you will have to hit 2 additional autos into big minion before he dies. Here it's not big case cuz he had teammates around anyway to help him finish camp quick, but when ur solo u rather want to care about this detail :)
