MAN! I've been eating up tutorials and explanations on PARA and Second Brain and template building and task management and all sort of things, and my Notion is becoming an unreadable mix of all sorts of different views. This is such a great way to simplify views while keeping relations and not creating unnecessary databases all around, I love it! Thanks so much for these videos!!

Man, I hate* watching videos like these. Making me want to derail what I've already got and rebuild. Well done; great idea, great video. Hope to see more from you.

Josh, Great tutorial! I have used perspectives/contexts in many other apps, and now having this in Notion is like coming back home. I look forward to more videos from you. The pace of your presentation is a little fast and the more details you give the better. Thanks for the pack templates!

Hi Josh, can't thank you enough for showing me / us the alternative way of using Notion. Away from all this beautifying tutorials and dashboards that manage everything. Personally I think that managing ones life, brain, habits etc.. takes more than N, but people seem to like it a lot, so why not giving them an illusion. Your system has made my own IBO project (inbound operator business in New Zealand / Itineraries for NZ visitors) that I was building using Notion suddenly look clumsy and slow. I have spent a couple of days transferring everything to the new Perspectives system and I'm chuffed to bits! I'll be passing your website to other business owners.

I love this method you created! So helpful for realistically utilizing all the information Notion is capable of capturing. I'm a personal-use kinda Notion-er, and have made mobile versions of my desktop pages for easier access, and would love a video with tips for doing that with the Perspectives Method. Thank you for sharing this!

That's a good suggestion and someone just asked me that recently as well. I usually make pages specifically for mobile if I need them and then create an iphone widget to go straight to it. I've also started to put my nav on the RIGHT side which helps the sidebar to not interfere and it puts the content first on mobile.

thanks for the new video and the templates. i remember from the first perspective video, seeing music and writing packs. i’m very interested in seeing how you use your system for what looks to be creative projects. also interested in your PKM setup. i like workflow videos in general so anything showcasing use cases is something i’d watch.

The question is, why didn't the Eagles help earlier? 🤔

Would it be fair to say that this tidies up the dashboards? Now you only see what youre currently working on instead of toggles for all the things? And definitely appreciting the LOTR 😊

Within each app, I think it does! But that's not to say you can't continue with the "inter-app" functionality if you like it. I prefer to just click back to the HQ

Nothing on strike in particular but I've definitely put out a few more videos since this! I'd love to showcase an entire system once it's put together well enough

No need for the packs/databases - the "Perspectives Method" can be achieved with just regular pages. Use a synced block with a "New Perspective" button that inserts a block above with the template perspective page (which contains the same synced block). The Notion menu and breadcrumbs also work intuitively this way.

It's an option for a simpler approach. I have other packs/features that definitely rely on the fact that they're in a database

@@JoshRedd Hey man, great videos. I find the guy's comment true however, I can't find situations in which actually having him in a DB could bring advantages. Can you give some practical examples of your own? Thank you!

If I’m using different clients in new team spaces (since not everyone in my team is on a client project) how would I then find a few where me (or a colleague) could see all of their tasks across all projects and team spaces? Is this possible?

Something I have trouble rapping my head around is how perspectives is any different than just having a "tasks" or "action" dashboard with all of the same views. Isn't a lot less clumsy this way than having to create a separate page for each view pretty much?? If I want to have a this week part of my system using perspectives wouldn't i need to include the this week view into each and every perspective i want it for???
@JoshRedd
@JoshRedd 8 ай бұрын
It's a flexible approach for whatever you need but I think the way to think about it is having the ability to "Focus" on one perspective at a time. It adds one intuitive layer to the system. And these perspectives live in a flat hierarchy together under one "app". So it's not always 1:1 with the database type. A "My week" perspective could include any number of databases and configurations. The Title "My Week" gives you the context for what's inside. Those same databases could be in other perspectives but under a different context.
