Excellent tone, and great playing as always... I am just starting to chase the SRV tone and I bought a 1977 Super Reverb Silverface, it has the original Fender CTS Alnico speakers. What is your opinion on these speakers?
@vivienverdier
@vivienverdier 5 ай бұрын
Alnico are great if you want less volume from the super which is very loud,it tames the brightness too but i prefer the punch and bass from the ceramic.Try swapping the v1 for more punch and drive😉

I m sorry but i know nothing about electronics 😅 All super reverb don t sound the same,i had three blackface and one was too dark and not responsive,not very powerful too,one was fat and responsive and the one i have is really scooped bright ,very responsive and insanely loud

Just got a ‘67 super reverb repurposed in a head - What speaker choice would you recommend for a 1x12 cab to get these tones? EVM12L? Amazing playing and tone!!

This isn’t an attack More of a question or an opinion, doesn’t mean anything. The whole “channeling Stevie “ thing , (yea I know he does Albert , not an excuse ) is fun when we’re in our late teens. But for me it’s become a whole genre? Like yeah bro , I know , it’s satisfying. Even the great Philip sayce , seems like aping the shit out of it. The facials are unbearable. Youngest generation is doing that now. The fricken facials, cmon If that’s the extent of your/our (me to ) vocabulary on the guitar, isn’t it a bit mute ? Irrelevant? Yeah Philip has always got his picking to light speed and awesome attack. So did all the shredders in the 80s. Such a cringe cliche. It’s like , ok now I’m going to blast 💥 now I’m going to ape the string bending and be slightly out in Phil’s case. I’m just saying it’s tiresome and if that’s all you hear when improvising , SRVs exact vocabulary. What’s the point ? Another Tommy Katona SRV revue ? He does it great But like , what is this the era of elvis impersonating our way through guitar I’m personally sick to death of it. I’ve censored myself from spamming the fast turnaround kick from the intro to Texas flood years ago. It’s like , yeah buddy , I hear ya , you didn’t just discover plutonium, everyone can do it. Would be the same as everyone doing Eruption ALL THE TIME Ok ok ok Message to everyone including self. You are a great player No hate Just asking questions Is there more than regulating the exact vocabulary Even though you are improvising, I know I get it. Think we can do more

I totally understand,i started learning srv stuff more than 20 years ago .His playing was engraved in me,i can t explain what it does to me listening to it,i really feel it and i m totally absorbed by his style,same with philip sayce.I was too compared to Stevie when i started doing gigs so i worked on my playing and that s why if you watch my instagram or listening to my music on spotify you will notice that my playing gors further than that.To be a teacher made me progress on that too,playing hard rock,metal ect…I m not an srv clone but i love to play that so why not?

Couldn't agree more. I often put comments on videos telling people to be themselves as they'll be a lot happier. It takes courage. It's tempting I know - I was 13 when Texas Flood came out and I can still sound exactly like SRV at the drop of a hat, but I deliberately avoid it. Fortunately I've been playing jazz for a long time so I don't do "those" licks anyway. I look to Scofield because his Jazz vocab is incredible but he indulges in a lot of bending as well, and it helped me find a way out.

@@vivienverdier yeah no , of course. Not a clone. You’re way better than that and expect a lot from you. I was in a rude mood with the comment. Wasn’t at you personally although it is going to be taken like that. I had an SRV strat in umm I think about 97 (can’t remember) and way more into Hendrix as a kid. On first listen I thought of SRV yeah sounds good , copying Hendrix but whatever. I apologise for a disrespectful tone. Usually haters hate themselves I would say , more than anything or are to uninspired to do anything useful.

@@idontwanttousemynameyoutub7538 yeah agree Schofield is awesome. He’s almost too much of a master to where everything is that perfect that his idea of playing “out” is to the point of flawless in terms of ummm not really out , He’s like a saxophonist almost. I d k what’s up my ☝️ Just ,,, can’t hack it anymore 😂😂😂 used to love Philip Sayce, Jeff Healey is royalty to me. But now when I watch him I see a routine. Yeah it’s technically unreal. His singing is amazing. Then he goes into roid zone and I go oh here it is Yep yep hold that mega bend Bit sharp bro Oh and while I’m being a complete psycho Nice guy But bonomassa 👎borrrring Anyway I doubt it’s that easy to just BE YOURSELF as you say , I’m exactly the sum of my influences too. I guess it’s easier to give people grief when you’re not putting anything on YT Hats off to this dude Not only is he doing it But he responded with restraint and with confidence My support I will give. I don’t have those apps But I wish you a strong 💪 set and good vibes

@@Aussie100-hj2jmNo problem😉I was into Hendrix when i started too and the first time i heard voodoo child by srv,i hated it and thought that Hendrix version was way better.I I didn t like srv in the beginning as i was playing more heavy stuff like RATM,Downset and was listening to rap too haha I m toward the rock/heavy side of the blues,i don t like jazz or blues jazz.I love punk pop too,metal and like to play this kind of things with my students.I was influenced by a lot of things apart srv and hendrix(blues saraceno,johnny winter,gary moore,satriani,malmsteen ,bonamassa,lance lopez,eric gales,ect…) and when you listen to my music it s a lot heavier than srv/hendrix haha(go to spotify😉)
