Loved the video, and the results are gorgeous. But I winced every time unprotected fingers went right over a cutting surface. Also, are they using crazy glue to hold that together? I've never tried that with wood.

Je ne connaissais pas cette technique consistant à découper les bords et à les superposer ensuite pour former un récipient. C'est beaucoup plus efficient que de creuser tout un "rondin" de bois. Par contre le geste à 9:00 doit être très la partie la plus délicate du travail. Bravo le résultat est probant.

I've seen a bunch of videos of this guy, I'm inspired, but what sort of magic is he using to hold the bowl on the lathe after he backs off the tail stock? I saw him coating the faceplate with something...I'm intrigued.

I was confused by this as well but at some points you can see a tiny screw in the chuck. You can see the screw in the chuck in 14:41 and the hole on the bowl in 14:45

I was going to ask the same question. You can see he goes over the bowl with a small square block of something while it is turning on the lathe, and then right after that buffs it with a cloth rag. I'm sure that small square block is wax, or maybe a mixture of wax and oil.
