In August of 2022, Fox13 News of Tampa Bay, Florida interviewed Marine Corps. veteran Sergeant Carl S. Dekle who served in the Pacific theatre of World War II. While it was meant to be for his 100th birthday, Sergeant Dekle would suffer an emotional breakdown regarding the modern state of America. The clip quickly went viral, and was used to try and push a whole bunch of different agendas and narratives because Sergeant Dekle never specified what he was truly upset about specifically during that interview. In this video, I want to set the record straight regarding his actual views and hopefully, somewhat, push back against the onslaught of misinformation.

As a vet( Vietnam), I can appreciate his concerns. Some would dismiss his interview as the ramblings of an old man. Those of us who served took an oath to the Constitution, and he is upset that the country is veering off course. Thanks for your attention to his interview. Excellent video.

I've seen people say he hates the left, he hates the right. But I think he just hates the Modern US. Before I see this whole vid, this is my veiw. He hates both and hates the internal hatred our country has for our fellow countrymen

Journalism isn't the same anymore, and it just proves his points. Taking this man's wise words out of context turns journalism into propaganda. Shame.

Thank you for this video. I never really interpreted his video as leaning to a political side, I just saw a man really upset with his country in its current state. And I’m not even referring to ‘the right or left’ as a fault, just in general the country is divided and has a lot of issues at hand socially and politically. Thank you again for this in depth vid of an amazing individual

The way I see this is that he's disgusted that how people think they are above everyone else because they have money and power. And frankly once you threaten their money and power then they take action they consider you a terrorist a threat to their power. This guy wants freedom but yet those with money and power refused to give it. Those with money and power what does the slave away while they increase the fat fat fat pocketbook.

As a retired Marine, I completely understand my brother. If people understood how truly blessed we are to live in America, despite its faults- we would be so much more appreciative of what we have. Instead of paying off college debt- send young Americans over to Iraq or Afghanistan for a couple weeks- let them see what I saw. I guarantee they will learn to live America then!

I disavow allegiance to the flag of the Soviet States of America and to the democracy for which it stands one Nation above God, divisible with subjugation and prejudice for all. The Republic is over. May God have mercy on our souls for he is the only one that can deliver us.

I always suspected his words were being taken out of context. Knowing the full picture I largely agree with him, or can at the very least understand his logic. I especially agree with people not appreciating what they have. I know someone in my life who shares similar views as mine (which are mostly similar to our esteemed veteran here). However in recent years he’s become increasingly cynical, which is tragic because in our youth he was the optimist in our inner circle, and it genuinely made me feel better. But now it’s like we reversed roles, and he thinks my hopefulness and sense of wonder makes me vulnerable or weak somehow. On the plus side, my parents and older brother have been a source of strength for me over the years, especially in recent times. I always cherish my time with them, regardless of what anyone thinks. I’m happy that they have my back, even when others don’t.

I want to thank Carl for his service and sacrifice for this country. I know he has passed on. Carl fought for his freedom and freedom of future generations. He is correct that our founding fathers came here for religious freedom. God loves mankind so much, he gave everyone the ultimate gift. The gift of to believe in him or not. It's encouraging to hear Carl to say he wants people to go to church and get familiar with God. People ask if there is a God, why is there so much pain and suffering in the world. The answer is, because that man's way not God's way. Communism is man without God. Meaning as man we can do better without God's guidance. This thinking causes evil(Satan) too plant ideas in mans head of destruction and death. To put one's self before others. The world does not know what mercy is or how to give it. Pray to God and ask for mercy and more important, the ability to give it to our fellow man.

He does have a few good points. American culture is sadly very spoiled these days many times and it's a shame. Still better than soviets handled it, but it still could have gone better. Maybe we understand this one day. Cheers on this guy.

So if you seen the movie planes and you see skippers backstory. Do you think there's any truth behind it? And if so it might be a decent idea to make a video on.

I doubt there would be much truth about it. A whole flight of corsairs would never go in like that on enemy vessels as they just don't have the ordnance or firepower to really do anything. A report would be radioed back to the carrier or other chain of command for bombers or other surface vessels etc to be sent in to deal with it.

I think the real point of a democracy is that people should have the right to disagree. Many want to go to Church but people like Atheists should have the right not to go. Unfortunately the real problem today is that the Republicans in their rhetoric at least seem to want a one party state. From there it is only a very small step to losing the right to disagree. And from there a very small step to losing all kinds of other rights. And from there a very small step to being back at the same solution that Germany and so many other places chose in the 1930's. If you study the roots of Fascism it didn't begin in the political arena it began in the Catholic and Protestant Churches..

Let's see, which political party is trying to ban private ownership of firearms, increase surveillance on civilians and sending federal agents over social media posts, have control of all upper institutions of the country using it to sow hatred of the opposite political party, and are using legal warfare against the most popular opposition candidate? That's right the party of slavery, Jim Crow, the KKK, Joe " I don't want my children growing up in a racial jungle" Biden, --the Democrats
