Moseley actually used a cold cathode rather than the hot cathode I described in the video. It doesn't change the sense of anything in the video, but it's better to keep these things right.

Proton comes later. 1919 or so. Moseley told about positive units of electricity contained in atomic nucleus. And in hes graph there was no perfect line. He wrotes: Examination .. shows that value of square root of frequency for all the lines examined both K and L series now fall on regular curves which approximate to straight lines.

Does anyone know if it was Moseley who coined the term ‘𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫’?

How did Moseley arrange for the incoming electrons to be the right quantum energy to knock out electrons from the inner shells?
@scienthium84754 жыл бұрын
Incoming electrons don't need any precise/quantized amount of energy - they simply need 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 energy. If they have too little energy, they can't eject inner shell electrons. If they have sufficient OR more than sufficient energy, then they can eject inner shell electrons. Thanks for the question. 🌞
