This was really a great insight especially regarding the Unification church, though I'm surprised there's no mention of the many scandals re-surging after Abe's assassination that explain why so many people in Japan were against an official ceremony such as the rape scandal he helped covered, his praise for his grandfather's legacy (who was a A-class war criminal, let's not forget) or the numerous corruption stories surrounding the Olympics.

the shooter wanted to bring attention to their suffering the fastest way possible instead of putting in the work protesting and gaining public support! The guy doing the actual stealing the head of the church is the avatar, he gets to skip off in the sunset while you get blind sided. I needed money to run for my election and was given money by the church only to be blind sided and shot by some kid the church stole from... out of the dam blue. As you are shot and dying your thinking what you did wrong! I would request the spirits to come back and haunt this man. THEN THE FACT THE MOTHER GAVE THE CHURCH THE MONEY! the total she gave the church was 1.4 million yen. The kid felt that they took advantage of her and that was money he was to inherit...so he got pissed because now she need care and has no money. I would not shot this man but be actively after the church. The church gave 700k back but not the rest.

Very nice documentary. As a historian of contemporary Japan myself, I do have my issues though how Ms. Koshino introduced Abe in the beginning. Shinzo Abe himself was very much behind introducing and advocating the term "postwar regime" in the 1990s, and any "overcoming" of such regime (whatever that is) to become a "global power" (?) again begs for further explanation to the viewers. Because, as one could argue, "overcoming" a "post war regime" could also very much signify overcoming a pluralistic and free society and changing Japan into a more nationalistic and militarist country.

Singapore government ban three religous groups. The Jehovah's Witnesses, Unification Church and Christian Conference of Asia are outlawed in Singapore because they threaten public order and, therefore, are not protected by the constitution, a representative of the Home Affairs Ministry said in parliament Thursday. Did you know that the logo the Unification Church used for many decades, what they call the twelve gates symbol, was basically a Japanese RISING SUN fascist war flag logo? Did you know that Moon would yell at his mass weddings "Now go smash Satan!" I.e. communists and him and his thousands of followers would burst into Banzai war cries? 95% of the funding of the entire Unification Church worldwide for decades was from his many Japanese followers, who were attracted to his anti communist obsession and his presentation as a modern day Emperor. Ironically the toxic extremist scary menacing tendencies of the Unification Church are mostly due to Moon's rabid anti communist stance / Japanese fascist tendencies. Moon who suffered during the Korean war and was personally tortured by communists. Sun Myung Moon that was born and raised NOT in modern South Korea or modern Japan but in in 1920s IMPERIAL JAPAN. He was fluent in Japanese language. Just like how many citizens of Singapore can speak English and understand British business and legal concepts due to the legacy of the British empire even though they are not biologically of British racial ethnic ancestry. Ironically the Japanese in this news piece critical of the Unification Church are doing a critique of their own ancestors! I think there is a LONG credible case for a critique of the Unification Church. But understand that if you remove rabid militant Japanese fascist culture from the Unification Church it basically is what they now claim to be, a 'family federation for world peace'. Again to recap my point the toxic abrasive extremist tendencies of the Unification Church all flow from the same place which is 20th century fascism, JAPANESE fascism. Is JAPAN a criminal cult? Ask the TENS OF MILLIONS of Koreans, Chinese, Russians, Vietnamese, Malaysians, Filipino men, women, and children invaded, robbed, and raped, literally to death by the Imperial JAPANESE army between the years 1937-1945 what they think.
