As a holiday destination for disabled people Istanbul has a lot of advantages and in this video I address both these and a few disadvantages.
The whole world has a long way to go with accessibility and Istanbul is no different however their helpfulness, patience and consideration eases many of the problems faced by wheelchair users and disabled people in general.
a couple extra things worth noting;
-bring a roll of sticky tape to cover the wheelchair wheels will save you having to ask the people or switch to another wheelchair if that is difficult
-Topkopi Palace has some areas which are totally unaccessible if you are severely disabled and can't walk up any steps with help.
-Though 90% of people are helpful, not everyone is and getting help or information can then be very difficult, for example no one at the blue mosque could point us in the wheelchair ramp direction and the signs were not particularly helpful either. I don't expect everyone to speak English but when you are near steps with a wheelchair it is quite clear what you need/are looking for.
Regardless Istanbul is a fantastic city and comes highly recommended when you can overcome the difficulties that come with it.

@@sk-df8px Hello, thank you for your message. I hope I can help. Some of the ferries are wheelchair accessible but not all of them I'm not 100% which one so you'd have to ask at the ferry terminal where you buy tickets or perhaps an email before you go. However the better option might be to pay a little extra (about 10 euros per person) and book with a tour agency they use different boats and then you'd be assured that it would be wheelchair accessible. Whatever you decide I'll give you the name of the tour agency we used "Acetes Travel" but there are many good local ones as well. Hope this helps.
