I mentioned a couple of days ago that a great cameo that would frame the existence of angels would be Shachath, the Angel of Death from Asylum. Thing that stuck out for me is that I felt sorry for Michael Langdon. He was basically used his entire life, and then run down like a chipmunk in the road. Even his father, Satan, just says "meh" and moves on to another vessel to reset the game. Satan's been playing too many video games, so I thought this ending disappointing as well.

The most disappointing was Marie only brought back for 3 min only to NOT show any real power display. We are talking about someone who been around for a very long time before any of them were born and know dark ancient spells who worked with a demon entity. To have her die so easily against Michael was terrible writing. I would have preferred a show down between Marie and Michael with Marie prevailing and revealing she also has light ability magic that can counter dark magic other than Mallory road kill or hell The white witch could appeared again and saved the day since we haven't seen what she can do other then sing.

Jackie Lookup I must be the only one who disagrees then. I didn’t want a happy ending. I’m tired of happy endings. Sometimes, there’s no happy ending and I feel that films that have no real happy ending are the best films. When I initially started watching the season, i already knew what to expect. The witches will win someway/somehow and we all live happily ever after.......but to my surprise, Ryan didn’t go that route and I believe it made for a truly more thoughtful and realistic ending that not only did the witches never really win, but there will be no happy ending. The end of times can’t be stopped. It’s coming one way or another, and the witches simply aren’t powerful enough to stop it. The true showdown will be between Gods Army and Satan as depicted in the Bible. And this makes sense since the whole idea of apocalypse seems to be based around the idea of revelation.

The inclusion of Tim and Emily's child as the new antichrist also didn't make much sense in terms of the lore of the series. According to Murder House, the anti-christ's conception- through a ghost having sex with a living person- is meant to be an inversion of the immaculate conception of Christ, in which the Virgin Mary became pregnant via the Holy Spirit. As both Tim and Emily are alive, it doesn't make sense for their child to be the new antichrist.

I fully expected them to pull the "Mallory is actually an angel" card from the moment, very early on in the season, where she (under the identity spell) confronts Michael, pisses him off, and he asks "what ARE you??" If she had just been a regular witch wouldn't he have already known that, even if she didn't at the time? It was like he was encountering something he was utterly unfamiliar with -- i.e. an archangel.

Gonna be real honest, I screamed when you said Mallory could’ve been the embodiment of Archangel Michael because that’s what I thought when Anti-Christ Michael was afraid of her that first scene. It made perfect sense and I’m so glad you said it! Lucifer’s son against Archangel Michael’s host: that sounds so much better to me! Not only that but I genuinely thought Tim and Emily were gonna play a huge role :/ it would’ve worked more if there truly was no one else and the reason why Tim and Emily were really chosen was to be the next Adam and Eve, not a “backup plan” if Michael failed. All of the imagery happening in the first few episodes seemed like they were red herrings.

I think it was because he hadn't quite ascended and became aware of his potential yet. Kinda like how Mallory couldn't ascend and gain full access to her potential until the one before her died. I think necessary steps that he took in the future led him to become that powerful like when he was found by the devil worshippers and sacrificed that woman. There were literal signs that something big happened and that he could now access powers that he didn't show as a child.

joy july In my opinion, I think Madison is the way she is because she is constantly seen as not good enough or second best and as a result of being mistreated she only looks out for herself. Madison had a dark past, she struggled with drugs, alcohol, being raped, dying several times and when she got back its like no one cared not even the one she loved (Kyle). In season 8 they knew Madison was dead and didn't bring her back even though they were able to do so. Madison is seen as a bitch but in reality, she is just a girl whos been fucked over so many times by so many different people, therefore, she doesn't really trust anyone. Saying that though she is just as loyal as any of the other girls as she gave up her life in order to protect the witches from Michael which gave them time which allowed Mallory to go back in time and kill young Michael which saved the world. Sorry for the rant

She’s like 40, and in a boarding school with teenagers! Her powers never manifested into useful. Her story line was a waste of time. 4. Your season ending was MUCH better. I felt so underwhelmed by this ending too. The ending felt rushed. The conclusion was anyone with a car could have stopped the Antichrist. 5.Mallory also wasn’t a compelling character. They spent all this time showing us that she was a timid girl, she never stepped into her bad-assery. 6. Madison could have brought the group more time if she wasn’t gazing off in the opposite directions of the wounded AntiChrist. This is not a fitting ending for anyone with common sense, and it happens when you try to cram a slow buildup into a short end.

I was SO sad when Coco and Mallory never had a reunion. One thing the season did somewhat well was build up their friendship, and make it matter. It deserved more time and should’ve come together at the end with Mallory having a moment with her.

This really is genuinely how it should have ended. The finale was yet another dumpster fire, as Ryan Murphy always ends his seasons. The only season to ever have an appropriate or satisfying ending was the first one, and Apocalypse was no different. He wasted time, destroyed any sense of tension, and utterly fumbled any chance of suspense, then left us with a ho-hum ending that just made everything seem utterly pointless...exactly as I expected. It would be nice to see the witches back in a future season, if the show manages not to get cancelled, but it's probably a vain hope that he'll manage to make it satisfying the second time around. Emily Morano but remember papa legbo, Nan, and others (according to Mallory’s narration at the end) knew what she did. That’s why Misty Day was brought back. So, one could theorize that the ghosts in murder house, built on the gates of hell, would also have recollection. So, I choose to believe that Violet and Tate, Vivian and Ben, and especially Moira all got their happy endings because going back in time isn’t going to effect the dead. Though, I suppose you could argue that Moira’s bones were never moved from the murder house grounds, thus releasing her, but she had already walked into the light, I don’t think there are any do overs from that.

I'm not convinced all the Murder House stuff was completely undone at all. And I also think Madison might fully remember, too, once they bring her back. Here’s what I would have liked in the finale to make the perfect ending to an exceptional season: •The witches should have cast a spell so that they would remember the apocalypse future (instead of only having Mallory remember), that way all the character development that Madison went through and the crazy cool changes they made to things wouldn’t have been for nothing. For example - •Nan should have brought back Madison when she brought Misty back from hell, and then with the memories from the future timeline, Madison could have gone back to the Murder House (that the Coven then buys) to ensure that Moira’s soul moved on to be with her mom again, Tate and Violet get back together, Constance could still die in the house and be with her children forever, and while Madison was there she could meet her relatives, Nora and Charles Montgomery. •Timothy and Emily could have still hooked up, but them creating the Antichrist didn’t make any sense, because he was supposed to be born of “spirit and flesh” - not to mention AHS already provided a way that they could create such a baby - with Hotel : Mr. Woo and Ashley Rhodes. •With Queenie having her memories, she could still visit the Hotel Cortez, but instead just cast a spell to cure Ramona of that weird vampire measles. That could transition to showing a pregnant Ashley Rhodes, who got pregnant from sleeping with Mr. Woo in Room 44. Then they could still show a second Antichrist for a cliffhanger ending, with the Hotel being the building where the next Antichrist is raised in, and the Church of Satan with Ms. Mead could following the circling murder of crows to the warmed up Hotel Cortez. •it would have been nice to see Myrtle come back, but it’s not...the end of the world if she didn’t (pun intended).

Tho I admit it showed that another anti Christ is in the works it also gives Mallory plenty of time to grow in powers. She could easily use tempus infinitum when the new anti Christ tries again. Not to mention Myrtle and Marie would more than likely return due to Cordelia having visions of the second coming of the anti Christ tho it will technically be the first. She would need help and she would have all her girls and Myrtle to prepare. Marie probably is unaffected by the time change seeing as the underworld was unaffected and her soul was no longer in hell at the time.

Up to season four in Supernatural - if you know the show - angels were not mentioned at all so when Castiel first appeared and identified himself as " an angel of the lord " and Dean asked him where his wings and Cass spread his shadow wings I'm sure at that moment people lost their minds out of excitment

I'm gonna say something really bold, and everyone could disagree/hate me but here it is: Everyone, I mean EVERYONE (me too) expected this huge crazy magical showdown at the end of this season between the witches and Micheal, and I know that the writers, and Ryan knew that. It was what the whole season was building up to. But to be honest, American Horror Story has never been the show to follow expectations, or have happy endings. That being said, I think the way that they ended it was definitely a big unexpected twist... If you really think about it, this guy is the antichrist, more powerful than any supreme, and probably all of the witches combined... And seeing the way he swatted them down like flies, the way he killed Madison, Marie Laveau, and Coco was a testament to this. What the witches ended up doing was so much smarter, sneaky, and witty than Micheal could have ever thought that they could pull off. Even he expected a grand showdown, and was outsmarted and beaten by this clever and unexpected ending. I think this is what the writers were trying to portray with this type of ending. Not trying to make it anti-climactic, just so unexpected that even the son of Satan didn't see it coming. Because if you think about it, the entire season it seemed as though Michael was always one step ahead of the witches, and knew their plan before they did. So as crazy as I sound right now, I think that we are SUPPOSED to feel this way about the ending? Almost as if we are seeing this through Micheal's eyes??

Well, I'm sure the writers would appreciate your interpretation but I disagree that Michael was portrayed as some perfect, invincible force up until the last episode. We'd known about his vulnerabilities for several episodes at this point. We saw that he was totally befuddled about his place in the world, was desperately mourning his mother figure, and was being manipulated very easily by those two Silicon Valley twats. He was basically still a child, and was looking for any authority figure to guide him. I wasn't shocked at all that he was out-maneuvered by the witches in the end. I did feel somewhat bad for him, because he was in many ways a very tragic figure, but it was obvious he was not going to succeed ultimately.

I've heard this theory somewhere and am 100% behind it. When I questioned why Michael would tell Gallant the Cooperative still needed women's wombs to repopulate the earth, then absolutely nothing was done with that, someone suggested The Sanctuary was probably Murder House, and Michael planned to blackmail the male ghosts into impregnating live women in order to give birth to more little demons, by threatening to incinerate their souls. I absolutely loved this season. Cody Fern played his part so well, a lot of women mostly want Cody to be a recurring character, he is AMAZING and a great actor innocence and evil joined together in one man. I didn’t like the ending just because Michael was such a powerful force hit by a car? It seemed rushed and out of time so someone chose a terrible ending, this story had such potential and I feel like it could have been continued into season 9. That way we could have seen crucial things that were left out. The antiChrist being taken out by a car? It bothers me. It could have ended so much better, love the season, one of the best, hated the ending.

I really liked your ending! Some of my problems this season were a little more fundamental than the ending. 1. This season wasn’t Apocalypse. It was Coven 2. When they announced this season as a crossover, my initial impression was that the season 1and 3 characters would be there for an episode or two, but they basically just gave coven a second season and murder house one episode. That’s not really a crossover. It felt like Murphy trying to appeal to coven fans, and I think that might’ve been the partial reason for that ending. They wanted the witches to win so bad they ended up sacrificing pacing, plot, and the lore to do so. The witches already got their season. Having the segments where the dead ones were brought back and maybe a little regarding how the apocalypse happened I feel would’ve been enough, and reduce the flashbacks, 2. I disliked how the warlocks were handled. The whole “men are terrible leaders and we can’t possibly have any joint power with them” continues to push the idea that feminists hate men, when the idea is supposed to be gender equality, not female supremecy (ha!). Not to mention most of the main warlocks were people of color and most of the witches are white. It’s probably unintentional but it still doesn’t look good for Ryan Murphy. 3. The fact that they built Michael up so much, let us see his conflict and how he only started to become a monster after his family kept telling him that’s a he’d ever be, and his journey to finding his destiny. It felt like a huge letdown to have such an interesting and built up character wasted and killed by a character we don’t really know or care about. The only reason the audience cares about Mallory is because she’s a witch, so she’s liked by default by coven fans, or she’s going to defeat Michael, but her only build up is her powers, we know nothing about HER. I really though she was going to be an angel. One thing I would’ve liked to see is her maybe redeeming Michae, in the sense that when she goes back in time, she maybe drives the evil from him or closes the portal to hell in murder house. Everyone would still be safe, the apocalypse prevented, and Michael and Constance could live a normal life together not having to worry about him being the Antichrist. It just felt like such an underwhelming ending for a character that was so focused on this season.

Absolutely. Agree with all three points. Through all these episodes we kept being told that there was a human side to Michael; seeing his struggle, his desperate craving for love and approval, and then... BAM! Let's go back in time and drive over him while he's still not powerful enough to defeat me. Okay... I also feel like Michael's humanity deserved a chance of redemption of some kind. Didn't need to invest so much in the character just to have him end up like that.

This was a story of the Antichrist. That makes it Christian tradition, and in that tradition there is no balance. The Christian God created Lucifer, and cast him into hell when he attempted to overthrow God. Yes, there is always the fight against evil, but good is always more powerful--that is to say Satan is not all powerful, God is, in this tradition.

When Mallory was being interrogated by Michael and even when she was revealed as a witch I was thinking she was going to up being an angel or some other supernatural being. But she was just a witch. They should have had Michael be defeated in the future with a supremely powerful Mallory, then had Mallory just reverse time for the entire planet to heal it and the populace, just like her power was shown to work in earlier episodes, with no cheap traveling into the past itself. The only persons who couldn’t be saved would be Cordelia and the witches previously killed by Michael, proving that Cordelia should have agreed to Papa’s deal in the first place. Billy is my absolute favorite on AHS and I hope she continues to be in every season.

I agree 100%. From logical and biblical perspectives, their confrontation in the outpost was promising + she brought back the dude from the ashes which no witch could do so she's logically supposed to be more than a witch. A satanic being can only be defeated by an angelic being

Joël Schulte this is how I see it, The prophecy from murder house is that the antichrist will be born of human and spirit and he was but Micheal was killed by Mallory before reaching ultimate power, because of Michael’s body dying the of the energy of the antichrist had nothing to attach it self to “energy can’t be destroyed, only transferred”. Until Timothy and Emily met and created a vessel (Devan) with the perfect DNA for the antichrist to be reborn. The prophecy never mentioned what would happen if the antichrist was killed before rising to power and now we have our answer if he dies his energy will be passed onto the next vessel but only when the vessel has been created with the perfect DNA combination“ The Devil isn’t going to just give up”

@James David I would like to think like that as well. But the first time she used her power to save Anastasia, she manifested a proper physical body in that time. And the second she was shown to be sinking under the black water into some kind of pocket dimension void, so I thought her power works by actually transporting her physically through time. But then again, that would make two Mallorys in the past, since we know that future Mallory didn't disappear with her timeline when Michael died.

I still don't know why witches had anything to do with the Apocalypse. It really should have been Angels v Demons. A spin on how someone caught in the middle (the Antichrist who was part human and part demon) would react to having to usher in the end of the world. Michael was named after a freaking angel, for crying out loud. His own uncle. The entire set up was there, ready for an awesome showdown between heaven and hell. But no...Ryan Murphy hadn't quite satisfied his witches fetish from the earlier season.

if only you were in the writers' room. That's why I was upset about the ending. Murder House was one of the best seasons and to have it be in one episode kinda sucks. All the promos in the summer kinda overhyped the season. The imagery of scorpions and hexes made me think that the season would be one huge battle. It's sad that Moira and Vivian are stuck in the Murder House. It was really more of a sequel to Coven and it should have been advertised as such. When the Hotel Cortez showed up it made me happy because I wasn't expecting it. Had this not been revealed as the "crossover" I think I would have enjoyed it more. I guess I'm happy that Violet and Tate are still separated because Tate is still an awful person. Sorry for the rant y'all

At least in the first season, there's no indication that he was possessed by the evil of the house. I think the Tate redemption was really for the Tate stans to be okay with liking Tate and for people to buy more merchandise of him.

So disappointed. A total missed opportunity. The "crossover season" should have had a main storyline of Madison being a Montgomery. Just the Coven gang interacting with the Murder House gang. Kyle could have easily fit in with Dr. Montgomery's experiments. Constance's missing fourth child could have been a witch. So many sub-plots available. The evil Michael as a child could have gotten involved with Papa L, or with Cordelia wanting a child so badly he could have pulled at her heartstrings, etc. Then Apocalypse could have been a totally different season with Michael being the cause and the aliens being the saviors of the earth. Freak Show could have been brought in with Pepper actually being an alien, leading to asylum, and Kits kids becoming involved. Sister Mary Eunice could have somehow been connected to Michael romantically. The DR in asylum connected to the removal of Elsa Mars legs. There were just so many better options for a crossover (or two) than what Ryan and the writers chose to focus on. Show less
