The first time I saw Alex Trebek was on the game show “High Rollers”.

Hey Jesse did you know that Alex Trebek hosted the game show ``Pitfall?'' It ran from 1981-1982. The show ended when Catalena Productions went bankrupt. Trebek was never paid for his hosting duties. He also hosted ``Battlestars'' on NBC from 1981-1983.

Alex also hosted "Classic Concentration" for years on NBC. Another successful show in his career. Now you can see the reruns of "Concentration" on BUZZR. He's between a quiz host and a host of rebus puzzles.

Back in the 1970s, I thought he was the coolest-looking guy on TV. That big, curly hair and moustache suited him to a T. RIP, Alex.

Alex Trebek also hosted ``Wheel Of Fortune'' 3 times. He did it for one week in August of 1980 for an ailing Chuck Woolery. Merv Griffin asked Trebek to fill in. He also filled in for Pat Sajak in 1985 and did an April Fool's episode in 1997.

He was also unflappable. On a children's version of the show, a little boy, instead of placing wager, said "I'd like to buy a vowel." Sounds familiar? With a twinkle in his eye, Alex said "There'll be no buying of vowel..."

@@denelson83 I'll definitely miss him. And I have to agree with Adam Nedeff's comment that if somebody says Alex is the greatest game show host of all time, there's no reason to argue with that. (Others might argue Bob Barker is the greatest.)

Alex often said that when he hosted The $128,000 Question, he wore some of the most awful tuxedos ever made because they wanted to jazz up the show.
