Why was Prof Amartya Sen appointed to such an august position at the revived Nalanda in the first place? The thinking was that his credentials would give glimmer and prestige to the project. This thinking is skewed. The man is well past his creative phase. When shall India turn to new novel creative blood ? I think Sai Deepak would have been better equipped for such a formidable challenge. Tragic that such huge resources are squandered for the further glorification of Prof Sen!!!

Dr. Sen was chosen (mainly) for the same reason that Dr. Yunus has been: because of the international prestige, owing to their Nobel Prize. To get the world's attention, for their respective countries, they're the best brand ambassadors. One of the many indelible records of Nehru's British allegiance to the British. The story of seed quality does not end here…… when the same General Dyer was facing trial in the Jallianwala case, it was Diwan Bahadur Kunj Bihari Thapar who declared his steadfast British allegiance by collecting Rs 1.5 lakh on behalf of Gen Dyer and honouring him with an award with a kripan and a turban. Yes, he was actually Karan Thapar's great-grandfather. Wouldn't it be surprising if her paternal uncle's name appears as a defeated general in the textbook curated by Romila Thapar ! To some extent, it is these rich families who accepted British bribes and are still driving our sense of history to a certain extent. These same families are the self- proclaimed wholesalers of all progress. They are the ones who bring in false stories and prevent the rise of Indian identity. This university/revival project has seen too many irregularities and too much incompetence. Thanks for pointing out the names. There are others. It is such a shame. Students from other countries too study here, drawn by the promise of the name. Many Thai Vietnamese monks/nuns. But the university is mired in botched planning and appointments. The older Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, in Nalanda - a govt university - is a better university at least for Buddhist studies.

Sir, thanks for the extremely informative video. But please give us a more detailed account of the damage this Noble Laureate has inflicted on Nalanda. Wrong and "nepotic" appointments are one part of it. What about the syllabi that were introduced? Were they in sync with the motivation behind the "revival" Nalanda? I think the revival should ideally focus on the scriptural studies of Sanatan Dharma and Buddhism for which this university was world famous in days yore. There's no point in duplicating science and technology as well as medicine studies as we have IITs and AIIMS of international standards.
