There is a famous quote many Thai know made by M.J. (a title to show rank of royal blood in TH) Sittipon Kirisadakorn whom Thai praised as Father of Modern Thai Agriculture. His quote is "Money is illusion. Food is real" You can use your money to buy food, but you cannot eat your money. Now you understand why TH -- no matter how the world has change -- will never leave agricultural industry. The question is just which products and which market sectors they focus.

I am Thai. Jackfruit tree is everywhere. Easy to grow. Jackfruit can eat as vegetable and fruit. For Thai people, we don't eat a lot of ripe fresh jackfruit because very sweet (don't like to eat very sweet fruit too much). Very young or unripe Jackfruit, eat as vegetable boiled and dipping with Thai prawn chili sauce. Eat with rice. Or eat with Kanom Jean (rice noodle) or put in Thai cuisine curry. Fresh ripe jackfruit, eat as fruit and make small slice put in many kinds of Thai desserts. Make dry Jackfruit. Jackfruit seeds, boiled+ put little salt in water and boiled to be snack. Another Little jackfruit (in jackfruit have very little jackfruit between jackfruit), can make crispy snack and put many flavors like BBQ, Cheese or Paprica.

Jackfruit is basically the heavyweight champion of fruits. It’s like the fruit kingdom said, “Let’s make something that smells like a tropical paradise *and* a gym locker at the same time!” You need an engineering degree just to figure out how to cut it open, and by the time you’re done, you look like you’ve been wrestling a porcupine covered in glue. But hey, all that work pays off-because inside, you’ve got those sweet, golden pieces that are like little bites of sunshine…if sunshine stuck to your hands for hours!
