This is the expected result of capitalism. It is not a transition, is continuity. Companies want to have as much market share as possible, companies have more capital to do more products and to bribe politicians. In capitalism they will naturally tend towards monopolistic practices. The main difference is that now there are companies that are also marketplaces, but all of this is expected from capitalism and its incentives

The idea that capitalism ruined capitalism is laughable. The video is about capitalism succeeding by crushing growth of creativity. Click bait lol.
@balsarmy20 күн бұрын
No. It is that capitalism should not be equal to corruption. Capitalism is capitalusm, but lack of rules is another.

The same is happening with supermarkets. Cities are designed around them, there's nowhere else to sell your products (local or not), they have monopoly now. And for that they sponsor the build of the local roads, namely intersections and crossroads. So now that you have nowhere else to go they start taking over the businesses that they used to mediate. For example my local shop, that is owned by a supermarket chain, only sells their own bakery products. Can't buy anything made by any other local bakery business. Supermarkets slowly turning into local food supply monopolies. One guy has electricity, one oil, one roads, one food, one waste etc, you're getting the point - we are back to plain old school mafia. If we don't see the patterns and fail to regulate them, then we will end up exactly where we started from.
@clyntmediaАй бұрын
That sucks, Things are fine where I live because it’s outside of the main city. But infrastructure being built in favour of supermarkets is a big problem in my city too.

I read that book. It's a very good book. Everyone should read it. It's not perfect, but it sheds light on many things that not many people think about or even are aware of. We are the proles and surfs in this system. We help improve it with our attention/data/usage

These practices are anti-competitive and should be outlawed! Also, Amazon, like many other giant corporations, needs to be broken up!

There are literally dozens of competitors to AllBirds in almost every store in the country and AllBirds themselves copied dozens of ideas from brands like Nike, Adidas, and others. Offering products that are on trend but cheaper than the market leader has always been how retail operates. If, as you say, "Amazon is the market", then how do you account for the fact that e-commerce sales are 16% of US retail and Amazon has a 40% share of that?

content is good, but you’re just a bit off the mark with the undertones of marxism and 2D thinking :)
@clyntmediaАй бұрын
That’s because the book this video draws heavy inspiration from comes from a guy who has one of the best criticisms of capitalism and his father was a Marxist. But then again, marxism is pretty interesting.

"It's not real capitalism" --- Bro didn't see the irony in his words. As every argument that is said against socialists/communists that they always say that isn't real communism but the same people used it when confroted with evils of capitalism. It invalidates this as argument and as answer to an argument.

Your video relies on the assumption that we all agree small businesses suffering and companies collecting data is objectively bad. it isn't, a small business getting wiped out by the same product being offered for 1/3 of the price is an example of capitalism succeeding. User data is a false boogy man, what harm comes from your amazon account predicting what product you like? none. Amazon isn't "the market" either places like Temu are doing to amazon what amazon does to small businesses. Capitalism seems to be working exactly as described.
