And he's right, feminism and modern leftism are products of socialism and marxism (yes, it's the same thing, stop whinging, commies) and they plague us to this day and cause the worst and majority of the modern world's problems: -unchecked immigration -breakdown of relationships -the failure of the institute of marriage -social upheaval -women becoming masculine -men becoming feminine -men and women hating each other I could go on for days.

He had been a lucky fugitive from the law of warfare averages in not getting killed or maimed. But now, he and his outfit were training for the invasion of Japan. Then one rainy night, a radio operator interrupted an open air movie he and his buddies was watching, and declared: "Its over! The War is over!" Everyone went nuts. My Dad was just 19. I cannot wrap my head around what he must of felt given a new lease on life. Thank goodess they dropped the bombs.

My Dad joined the coast guard at 17. He had an arm that kept him out of the army and navy. He wanted to serve and the Coast Guard enlisted him. He was a 20mm gunner and radio operator on a patrol frigate. The atlantic convoy duty was stressful. After VE day, they were shipped out to the west coast to be outfitted for the pacific theater. He said that moral on the ship dropped to zero. There were stories about the germans but nothing like the stories about the Japanese. Then they heard something about Truman dropping a big bomb. Moral inched up. Then they heard about the second bomb. Shortly after the war was over. One thing I think you didn't mention is the expected casualties on BOTH sides for an invasion attempt. An invasion would have led to a much greater loss of life. Oh, and I met a guy years ago who served on a B29. He talked a little about the fire bombing. But that wasn't the worst thing he experienced. Supposedly there were plans to fly the B29s low over the cities with incinderaries in the 20mm guns with additional guns to make a pre-Puff. He said that gave him nightmares or the rest of his life.

Yeah, while I wish the A bombs hadn’t been needed they really were the best option at the time. While the outcome would have been the same regardless the idea of invading the main islands of Japan would have probably been an insane endeavor that potentially would have cost more lives on both sides. As for the USSR, they definitely played a factor in our decision to use the bombs also. I firmly believe that the bombs ended World War 2 and kicked off the Cold War.

There's a book called the Japanese destroyer captain and it is written from the perspective of a Japanese destroyer captain and he specifically talks about how there was a coup attempted on the emperor and that is one of the reasons why it took them so long to surrender. The emperor wanted to surrender after the first bomb. But due to his generals in Tokyo he was unable to because he was locked in a bunker.

Yeah... the original plan was to surrender to the US, and use USSR as "neutral" mediators in the peace treaty negotiations. August 8, the USSR declares war and kicks shit off. The semi-sane assholes in Japanese command realise "ohh fuck, all our static defenses are facing a US invasion, we can't defend both sides" And the insane guys were all "well fuck the emperor guy and we are gonna take charge of everything!"

The nukes were their best option in a list of shit options. It’s always a difficult subject because it was a difficult choice. But aside from the political motivations regarding the Soviets… there was truth to the idea that they were choosing the lesser of two evils. I used to ask why they couldn’t demonstrate it, but they barely got Japan to surrender after leveling two cities, and there were still efforts to destroy the emperor’s surrender message. The Allies and the Japanese themselves calculated deaths from a land invasion of mainland Japan to be in the several millions. It would have been essentially an extinction of Japanese culture because of the way they felt about surrender and the lies they were told about Americans. They threw their own families off of cliffs and blew them up with grenades before surrendering. The bomb shock to leadership really was a less devastating option in terms of immediate loss of life. More people died in firebombing attacks. It was a horrible thing to do, but it was set during the most pivotal and catastrophic war in human history. Ethics were lower on the list of priority and there was no good choice. Only the least bad one. War is hell.

Truly, a real life example of 'lesser of 2 evils'. I remember 1 documentary saying that the loss of life to the Japanese in the event of an invasion would've been around 10 million, as opposed to the - at most - half million who died either immediately or later bc of radiation sickness.
@TheLastArbiter
@TheLastArbiter 3 ай бұрын
@@danielr3149 exactly. In our timeline, Japan healed and became a close friend and celebrated beacon of expression, economy and industry. Emperor Hirohito was even left in power to preserve the Japanese culture and help them feel safe that America would not destroy their civilization and what was important to them. They felt that this would help give some trust, compared to if they executed the emperor (who was essentially a god to them) many Japanese may kill themselves or never work with us.
@CyberNut930
@CyberNut930 3 ай бұрын
Vs the other option that would have ended with half of Japan being communist for the next 50 plus years with their culture destroyed and their emperor being displaced because no man is allowed to be above another…..unless you run the party then you can take whatever you damn well please. Funnily enough, is there anything more capitalistic than figuring out a way to make an entire population of people work for you while making them think that they work for the greater good of the country?

On top of dropping two atomic bombs, it took the Japanese until September 2, 1945, almost three weeks later to officially surrender to the United States and Commonwealth Forces in Tokyo Bay. From primary source material, those three weeks were insanely tense. The Americans continued to be alert right up to the moment the Japanese signed the surrender documents on the USS Missouri. Another thing, I don't know any other nation that would drop millions of warning leaflets over Japanese cities before and right up to the atomic bombings telling the civilians to evacuate for their own safety. Also, both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were legitimate military targets, including their war industry, headquarters, and the fact that the civilians would have been fighting the Americans and Commonwealth Forces had we invaded the home islands.

Fascism is not a form of socialism 😂 you motherfuckers love Hitler now and you think he was right and he's become a based hero to dumb angry young men but when you get called out for it you claim Hitler was some woke leftist who loved gays, blacks, transgender people and disabled people! 😆 Socialism is not communism and it's not fascism! If you don't know that then you are at a simpletons level of political history and philosophy! Your basically saying the communist Soviet Union and the fascist Nazis were the same thing?? No one hated communism and socialism more than Hitler! That should be your warning there. Hitler wiped out every socialist, communist and liberal he could find during his purges. He despised any notion of egalitarian thinking and at its core that's what drives socialist philosophy. The notion of socialism and fascism being the same thing is beyond laughable! One philosophy is based on a country sharing its wealth evenly with its people regardless of race, gender, religion etc. it's about taxing billion dollar companies properly then using the money to spend on healthcare, education, welfare, housing etc. Fascism is the antithesis of that type of thinking, it's a dictatorial system usually ruled by one leader with an iron fist! It's about running the country through fear of the government, police and the military. It promoted hard-line beliefs often very right wing and based on the ideal that some humans are just genetically, morally and intellectually superior to certain other humans and this helps foster the hatred and false morality required to control the populace and if need be kill members of the populace who disagree with you! It's also the antithesis of democracy so when a politician says he's gonna become president then refuse to leave office once his 8 years are up (Trump) and he's gonna rewrite the constitution to ensure Republicans run the country for the next 100 years! Trump is proud to say he's taking over the country and once he's back in power he ain't leaving till he dies! None of you see that as anti democratic fascist behavior though huh? 🤔 The Republicans are literally talking about banning all porn, birth control, condoms, abortion, books that critique Trump, movies that aren't patriotic enough and basically half the crap people currently watch online for entertainment! That's a weird miserable christian evangelical dystopia?? That's the utopia all pearl clutching old women want to see! Yet in 2024 we have young men who should be cool talking about banning women from voting and banning divorce unless the man agrees! It's the gayest, lamest policy direction I've seen in my life! These boring evangelical hypocrites really wanna destroy freedom and democracy in America once and for all! You guys bitch about cancel culture and wokeness all day long but your cool with America becoming a theocratic state run by churches where watching porn is a crime or criticizing Trump or the church will get you arrested! Marjorie trailer Greene openly said when Trump's president again he should make a law banning late night talk show hosts from making jokes about him! This is fascism guys not socialism! Keep worshipping false idols though and keep pushing for that civil war like a good Christian with an insatiable blood lust for his fellow Americans! It's a death cult and it's gonna kill us all!. 🙄😑🇺🇸

5:03 nope. fascism is not "far right" its another leftist collectivist ideology this time based on race instead of class. same methods, same goals, same outcomes (ie heaps of bodies) as communism. "Mussolini defined fascism as being a left-wing collectivistic ideology in opposition to socialism, liberalism, democracy and individualism." giovani gentile said he envisioned fascism because "socialism doesnt go far enough"

Italy was fascist. Germany was a form of socialism based upon racial identity. Soviets were class based socialism.

Not that simple but not wrong. It was based of national and historical and racial identity. They had a lot of now called conservatives ideas. But they also used many ideas from socialism. Thats why eigher side wants to put them in the other corner.

Hirohito made a second speech to the armed forces where he never mentioned the bombs, stating that the reason Japan had to capitulate was that that they were fighting far too many enemies and the Soviets entry strengthened that coalition against them. The bombs used in his first speech were both a political and moral move to portray his country as the victim. The Japanese hoped Stalin would be an intermediary between them and the allies for the better terms, the USSR war declaration dashed those hopes. The leaders didn’t care about the nuke on Nagasaki due to being more focused on the Red Army’s assault on Manchuria, in fact the Japanese public were being given instructions on how to prepare for further nuke attacks.

point of fact, the main reason the U.S.S.R attacked Manchuria at that was because the USA dropped the atomic bomb, which after years of being pressured by other allied nations to enter the pacific war, was the final push Stalin needed to formally attack Japan.

I remember this 1 time in high school, I debated a kid about this exact issue. And he literally argued that the Japanese were TRYING TO SURRENDER BUT WE DIDN'T LET THEM. !?!?!??!?!??????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!! Why in the fuck wouldn't we accept their surrender?! I think his counter-argument was that we needed an excuse to use to intimidate the Soviets - except that the plan was to drop it on Germany. Also, in the 1940's there were these things called cameras that we could've used. Not to mention the fact that everyone already knew the potential of nukes anyway. It's all just virtue signaling - 'oh racist America picking on a smaller, non-white nation'. That's all it comes down to.

Anybody who thinks invading was a better alternative needs to watch a documentary called X Day Invasion of Japan and Secret Japanese Aircraft of ww2. Both great documentary that go over the sheer casualties and things that Japan was willing to do. If they invaded allies would have had tremendous casualties, but Japan also basically would he completely annihilated basicslly. Those documentaries really show the insanity that would have happened if not for the bombs and surrender.

"Fun" point : The Japanese military first thought that even if the US could have been able to produce a bomb, they thought impossible that they had enough fissile material to produce any more than a single one. Then, another one drop on their fucking head, and the US informed them they had more.
