I have a power filter mechanism that uses top filter for filteration [2 ft tank] For over a month the fish was stressed & couldn't regain it's colours. I later ended up closing the flow coming the power filter which was hitting the fish & the only current flow is from the water falling from the top filter now. While the fish came out from stress. I however still see the fish getting into stress during different times of the day. Is this normal? How can I get it out from stress entirely & permanently? I do not have aeration in the tank presently. Could that be the reason for the fish getting in stress? Everything else from water, temperature is on point & the fish is healthy & active.

Filter pressure causes a lot of stress in the flowerhorn. As you said you have a 2 foot tank so it's very small for your flowerhorn fish. Due to this as well your flowerhorn will be in stress.
