Hello thanks for explaining the use of this, I have pretty much the same setup apart from the remote control I was thinking if it is possible to have it set to wifi control because I am disabled and while I can see who is at the gate on my phone I still have to get to the intercom telephone to operate the push button. The radio control probably wouldn't work due to the distance i am from the gate and the amount of concrete and steel there is in the house, having said that the wifi does work that far easily and also i like the idea if I am not at home and a delivery man arrives he can open the gate from speaking to me on my wifi camera , i can then open the gate and he can leave the parcel safely. thank you.

yes it can, but for that you would need to buy a smart plug separately. The way to use it would be the least complex of all, only having to plug the charger of the strike lock into the smart wifi plug and turn it on via the app on your phone. The lock would have to be set to always locked by default, with the smart plug just cutting the power to it, effectively disabling it when you action the plug.

Im currently looking at setting this up with something called UniFi so you can have both mobile access and use NFC chips to scan in and out. Its not cheap though.

Most electric strikes do not require a control board unless you want the strike to engage for a set time, you would need a relay for that.
@OneHourSmartHome4 жыл бұрын
This electric strike was part of a kit: amzn.to/2Y1pSAI that came with the control board so I just used the kit and the provided clicker for unlocking.

I have a situation where the buzzer in the lobby of my building doesn’t unlock the door when I push 9 on my cellphone which is the phone connected to the building’s lobby directory. The man in charge of programming system told me I’m the only resident in the building that has this issue and there’s dozens of residents. Do you think it’s malware on my smartphone that’s creating the issue or could it be a phone brand maybe ? It’s a 2023 Motorola phone.

what's stopping someone from cutting the strike wires and feeding dc power to it to simply open the door?

they are in the wall inside the door frame

be nice if you would mention if the wires to the strike have a negative and a plus side , or does it mater which way they or connected ?
@rudymmirelez62892 жыл бұрын
Both strike and power supply have + and - positive of strike goes to relay, positive from power supply goes to relay common. Negatives of both tie together.
@JohnFields2 жыл бұрын
Pro tip: The black wire is the negative side. The red wire is the positive. An International standard right there.

I would like to add a wireless wall button to my Ring Access Controller to open the door. I see you have a Key fob, I would like the same thing but a wall mount button. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for any advice.
@OneHourSmartHome4 жыл бұрын
Tony, it says that the Ring Access Controller: amzn.to/31Ltt6C is compatible with push unlock buttons. This Button: amzn.to/2Dydill should work fine.

Hello thank you for sharing your knowledge, what would be the best wire to use on a electric strike like this one?
@joshuajhoyt4 жыл бұрын
Insulated copper
@garyameika187 Жыл бұрын
If the strike uses "DC" the wire should be stranded... 18ga is common, I suggest all circuits fused (3a)

Can I connect this with the Ring app?
@OneHourSmartHome4 жыл бұрын
Asif, Yes. Ring now makes and access controller: amzn.to/2ymzmMy that lets you control it from your phone. You could get the kit we list in the comments and combine it with the Ring Access controller.

Man you got a lot of static from this mic
@OneHourSmartHome4 жыл бұрын
I no longer use it. It was a rode mic that was reportedly "high quality" that never worked right out of the box. I've since switched to a better setup.
