Looks like a good, safe design. I like how the striker is only cocked when the front of the grip is depressed, then, if released it ( the striker) goes back to the safe position. Whoever designed this is a genius.

Really nice animation. One small point of critique: The outside that is rendered is that of the K3 version. The K3 is the blow back version of the gun for some of the smaller calibers (.22LR, .380 ACP, .32 ACP). The piston delay, as shown in the animation, is therefore not present in the K3 but it is found in all the other, and far more common, versions of the gun.

My pd dept carried the p7m13, our testing with other semi autos the p7 outperformed them, amazing pistol, no flaws, no jams other than shooter error & failure to clean, our duty ammo operated without any issues, we had three police shootings with the p7m13 & it did its job. The pistol was easily concealable in off duty carry. I will get my own p7m13!!

Reminder, exhaust ports in the breech assist to extract spent cartridge out of the breech. Ejected cartridges often have carbon vertical stripes. Another elegant engineering design feature.

Gas operated pistol just seems like more issues to have to worry about for self defense but that being said it does make for the softest shooting compact handgun ive ever shot.

Ah, I see. I thought the piston below the barrel was just another extra recoil spring to help hold the recoil back a little longer like the stiffer rec.springs in makarovs. Its actually piston for blocking the gasses in a gas chamber with a hole just right before the mouth of the cartridge. That must've rquired more cleaning than most tilting barrel and lever delayed pistols.

Not exactly more cleaning but think about cleaning an ar how you have to clean gas tubes and stuff. Just more steps. Not more cleaning.

anyone know why firing pins are so long in glock and h and k now? seems this is the only gun that ever changed magazine angle and shortened and or moved the striker outside the slide.

Unfortunately, it kills the cartridge case through the relief grooves in the chamber, not good for reloaders.
