I super agree with just choosing what you're good with, and not always what is necessarily meta. If a hero doesn't fit your style, it won't feel good, as you described. I lost 2 medal ranks playing a hero that was super buffed and supposedly meta but gained it back playing a non-meta hero I'm good at. My new guiding principle for Dota this year is "Mastery is the GOAL". I just want to be good at who I like. The wins will follow. It's like the prime Ammar_the_F style where he had a hero puddle of Mars, Timber, Razor, and Huskar but he mastered all of them and became unstoppable until Valve nerfed all his favorites.

That's flawed logic. DotA is a marathon, not a race. The more you force yourself out of your comfort zone, the better, the more heroes you can master, the more tools you will have at your disposal for each situation. The more meta heroes you pick up to learn, the more knowledge you will gain and understand why meta IS meta. Througout the years, because of keeping on top of the meta, I've developed skills such as manta dodging, multiple unit microing, efficient farming patterns, pull timings etc. Otherwise I'll just climb with Viper mid for years.l because that is what I am good at. There were moments in the meta where Viper sucks and there was no way of winning against half decent meta heroes.

I agree totally with your point on picking a few comfort heroes, but surely Meta comes into it a bit. Mirana, Snap or Jugg for example just feels so weak rn, even if you are 1000 games with it.

this is my dream case scenario, young, have a work life balance while also high rank in dota and have a good option wether to play for fun, pro player, content creator or anything dota related. sadly me got no talent lol out of curiosity, how many hours do you have on dota ?

I would say that I'm in this scenario because I played pro before and I was high rank already before I started my education :D I got like 30k hours in Dota since 2016 or 2017

@@5updota which team ? yup I know I think I saw you playing rubick on one of qojqva video. You are definitely up there Holy moly, yup this confirmed me no talent lol. I played since 2014 only 6.9 hours xD my peak mmr was only 3.4k lol now down to 2.5k

Depends, if you are already like 28 years old but 11k MMR then probably no but if you are starting now with 25 years old and idk 4k MMR then yes it does matter I would say.

Lets say i am ancient 1 and i want reach divine 1, lets say i do my best performance how many games is the limit to say ok i failed, an average number 100 200 300, 8000 hours gamer here. I watched tons of guides etc, know fundamentals etc. currently just 4050 mmr ancient 2

I was also like you when i used to be ancient player, then i decided to stick to the rule, if i lose 2 games in a row I'll stop and take break. It helped me a lot now I'm 2-3games away from immortal. I think you should do that too.

Just to add my 5 cents: limiting myself with “bo3” or “bo5” approach also helped me get me from 5.5k to 6.3k. Plus, I found very important to think of your role in the game not only as pos 3/4/5 in general, but also about your role as a hero (is it push, teamfight, saving, initiation, etc.).

You shouldn't give yourself a limit or something. Especially if you think about your MMR dream or goal toooo much you will struggle much harder to archive it trust me^^ Just enjoy every moment while playing the game and you will gain the MMR by itself.

Spam : spam your best hero even though get boring. If u don't spam your best hero, you technically don't want to win. "Have fun" then. Time to play : recommended daytime, not recommended late night. Late night tend to get idiot team. Make sense though, people get sleepy, brain not working at best. Mute(most important thing yet almost nobody do, people so stupid) : mute if someone blame u. Don't get emotional, don't bother to justify yourself by words bcoz they gonna keep replying with their bullshit, I even mute chat wheel spammer, crybaby, & tip abuser. Focus 100% on gameplay only. Don't trust anybody words : play however u like, don't listen to other telling u what to do. It's pub game, they not your friend, so it's pointless to tell them what to do & vice versa them telling you what to do. Play however u like & let them play however they like & try to synchronize their gameplay. I play with almost 0 communication, communication doesn't really help much, it just distract your brain. TRUST only their gameplay not their words. No toxic : no pause,tip,blame,cry etc. Even tipping your enemy doesn't affect them at all. It just useless thing kids do bcoz they feel cool doing so, bcoz their life suck. Just give up : when enemy rekt your team so hard u see 0 chance winning, just GIVE UP for real. Stop defending, go jungling until game end. It's stupid to delay your lose. U just tire your brain for something useless. Move on to next. I stop try to lmao "comeback is real" when I feel chance of winning is lower than 20%. I climbed from legend 4 to divine 1(now) in 3 months.

Divine 5 72% atm, as a 4 Lion, Np and shaman & as a 5 venge, treant, veno are pretty strong atm. If there is a hero you have played a lot as pos 4 n 5, play them as much as you can since you know those heroes better than trying new ones.
