First of all when carlo arrived for the first time in 2014 madrid was perfectly build... Mourinho had done his job they were just unlucky in UCL...but la decima was coming even it wasn't for him Yea but currently when he came 2nd time he just transformed madrid ...2022 UCL and 2024UCL runs were just iconic!!

Hold on. They weren't underperforming for years after 2018. Zidane DID manage to win the league during covid season, and was unlucky in the UCL. Even the following year, the league title went to the last game day. Real was knocked out in UCL RO16 in 2019/20 and made the semis in 20/21. All that with the amount of injuries during Zidane's 2nd era and the lack of signings after big fat flop Hazard. Ancelotti did turn things around, but I wouldn't call those 2 years as underperforming, especially since Zidane really showed his tactical abilities with a team that was embarrassed under Lopetegui and Solari, so much so that Zidane was brought back within under a year since he left.
