Chris, you are so cool. Ever since I have found you, I have watched all of you btd videos, and have loved all of your science videos, (especially the tadpole ones) , and I just wanted to let you know. Have a Super Delicious Day!!!! -hunter
@kevincameron1744 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this. I have started growing algea outside to put into my aquarium, and also using old spinach and other greens that my girlfriend does not want to eat. I found that more efficient than the pizza cutter is to freeze it first, then when it is frozen just use your hands or a hammer to mash up the freezer bag. When it is frozen it easily breaks into smaller pieces than even the pizza cutter can get it. Is there a reason you cook it first? I have not been cooking mine, and the tadpoles like it just fine. I also supplement with fish flakes (they are in the same tank as goldfish and neon tetras). The tadpoles seem to love the fish flakes too.
@animallover64874 жыл бұрын
The reason you boil it is because it makes it easier for them to chew :)
@amyclemens_staff37114 жыл бұрын
Animal Lover yes! By boiling and freezing the lettuce, the cell walls get weaker and weaker. This will be beneficial to their digestive system and the tadpoles will be able to eat quicker
@kevincameron1744 жыл бұрын
@@amyclemens_staff3711 and Animal Lover. Thanks. The tadpoles have all graduated now and I have no idea where they went. I just see random frogs jumping around my house. Don't worry though, I have no screens and the doors are always open so the frogs are free to go out anytime they want, but usually I find some that have come into the house and the hang out near my desk light, or attached to the window with the bugs tend to hang out.

Probably more nutrition in the Swiss chard I give them or in spinach, if available. I also give some parrot kibble & dog kibble occasionally. They seem to like their choices.

Could you just mircowave the lettuce? This is how I steam my own veggies to get them soft and this way you don't boil out so much nutrition. Just curious.

Other then lettuce what can you feed the tadpoles and they will still be healthy? Want them to try other flavors.
@superscienced9 жыл бұрын
Daniel Valencia You can get algae from the pond, the green stuff floating on top. But it makes your aquarium dirty. You can also use tadpole food. Buy it from a pet store or amazon :). They don't need a mix of flavors. Just stay safe with the lettuce.

They will starve to death if no food is available. Might cannibalize each other. It took around 1 week for my Swiss chard leaves to decompose enough in the water for the tadpoles to eat. But they did enjoy it! I cooked most of my chard, ground it in my Ninja, and froze in cube trays.
