I have a big interest in the backhand bajada as it seems to be the most unexpected shot and thus surprisingly effective. The handful of players who are hitting it beautifully don't even know the name of the shot sometimes, so it seems to me it can be self learned or intuitively copied from others too. From this video, I wanted to see also the trajectory of the final shot and possibly some comments on why and where to try to place the ball - but I assume what usually works best is cross court through the pinhole at the middle just above net height with fast enough power to atleast pressure the opposing players if not outright caught them unaware for the winner. This shot if placed in the middle, with high velocity and low, could be anticipated and countered by either of the opposing players at the net so the partner should be ready to repressurize or battle the net in blocking fashion. I know all the Padel shots already have fancy spanish names but before I knew what this shot classifies as officially I wanted to make some english names for it. Butterfly cross court counter shot for example. Butterfly is the flourishing follow through position as when you hit the backhand sideways it can look a bit like a butterfly motion, something out of a ballet or dance, with the shot fanning out beautifully. Cross court I guess is the usual case for a right handed B side player when the lob has been placed well into the corner. Counter because it counters expectation, at least on low levels of play, as most would be happy to just return the favor of the lob. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for your comment. The direction depends on many factors and a good player will change it throughout the match to make opponents think what to cover. However safest is always middle, straight since you can go for more power, it’s more difficult to block and you don’t open the court that much

freaking good explanation as always

So the ball just goes straight down the line from where we stand only? Like down the middle in this scenario if it plays from the player on the right side. How about if we want to place the ball a bit more left or right of where we are ??

The motion is more or less the same since the angle and direction of your shoulders doesn’t change much even though you go to different directions.
